    Fouts would have some SB trophies if they had given him a defense.
    It was not my intention to start a Rivers-Fouts conversation by posting about Rivers becoming one of the youngest grandfathers. I don't know why that's being brought up by what I wrote.

    I would take Rivers, though. Fouts had superior coaching in Don Coryell (and at one point Joe Gibbs as his offensive coordinator), and he was still horrendous in too many playoff games, including five interceptions against Houston in 1979 and another five picks against Miami in 1982. The playoff loss to Houston was the worst, with the Oilers not having Earl Campbell or their starting quarterback. Can't blame the defense in that one, as it gave up only 17 points and Fouts kept turning it over.
