I was just diagnosed with a heart that produces an extra beat. Started 6 weeks ago. Then after the 4th week of palpitations i started getting chest pain. Ended up taking an ekg...resting 24 hour ekg and an echocardiogram. Heart is fine but i now have an irregular heartbeat. it seemed to be worse in Colorado. I can live with it. Dr thinks the pain is muscle fiber from massive quantities of pushups.

I was scared though. When they attached the resting harness i had the worse searing pain ever. And the monitor caught my heart racing afterwards due to fear.

I just got back from Santa Cruz, watched my neiphew in law graduate high school three years after losing his parrents. (Not a mispelling, both of them in a four month span) after 45 if you have kids, its your obligation to have your house in order in every way.

RIP James. You will be missed.

Stayed on friendly terms tho, as it was part of the job to them. Crazy method stuff.

One of my favorite movies, too.
        True Romance is awesome!

The big one is clogged arteries, and it's a very easy test to see if there is anything going on. Anybody approaching 50 should do so. I've always been a guy who worked out regularly, watched my diet, and didn't smoke cigarettes, and still I had three hugely clogged arteries. If I had been out of shape like a lot of people are at that age, I wouldn't be typing this right now. Believe me, having 5 stents stuck in you, or a triple bypass, is not near as fun as doing an MRI or other tests to see if your arteries are clogged. Well worth the money for a few simple tests.

Not to be argumentative but many times it is the fat couch potato that survives a heart attack whereas the skinny workout warrior dies. This is because the former's heart develops alternative sources to supply the heart should he/she have an attack. But, I am planning on talking with my Doc during my next physical about doing a scan. My Dad was healthy as a horse a week and a half before he ended up having his quadruple. He has never been the same since, his heart had been failing for quite some time and the damage of that was permanent. He just never fell into any of the risk categories.

But again, take a daily low dose aspirin. Most heart attacks occur not from a complete plaque blockage but, instead, when that plaque separates from the arterial wall. This separation causes bleeding which leads to a blood clot. Aspirin is a blood thinner which counteracts the clotting action.

I actually have to take a lot more than aspirin every day. It was probably the hardest part psychologically for me to overcome. I have to take plavix, baiaspirin, lipitor, and artist, a beta blocker. In addition, I take some other blood thinner called adiphose or something like that and a real nasty one called isobide for my left ear, which went 100% deaf in February. My blood is so thin now, if I cut myself shaving I'll bleed out in a matter of seconds! Kind of a joke, but not much. I have bruises all over my arms and legs because my blood is so thin. In addition to the drugs, I take 11 supplements and vitamins. I feel like a damn walking pharmacy! But at least I'm walking.

Damn Rob! BTW when was the last time you had your med's adjusted? It sounds like you may be over doing it with the blood thinners or may have low platelet counts. Some bruising is expected, overly amounts isn't.
