Looking forward to seeing all the draft picks but the 1 kid I'll be paying close attention to is Craig Watts. Really intrigued by him and I'm rooting for him to make a name for himself.

Verrett will be back soon enough and he is going to do well for us as long as the team can keep him in one piece. I still think he is going to have to work against giving up catches to "big body" players like he talked about happening in practice with Floyd, but his speed, quickness, ball skills and sound fundamental tackling should make him a good player for us. It will be interesting once he is healthy to see if Wright can hold him off all year long for the starting position opposite Flowers.Originally posted by Grinners View PostNice Yuba---- I also want to see my favorite Rookie that was also drafted by us. I want to see how well Verrett wears the Red Jersey on the bench this week and supports his team. LOL
I will get to see him soon enough!

Even then the depth chart is the coaches playing with the rules. It's turned into a joke these past few years. There is nothing to be garnered from the current depth chart other than some desperate fans looking for meaning.Originally posted by Boltjolt View PostIMO you can't put any stock in the depth chart til after the 3rd preseason game. That's the game the starters wil play 3 quarters. Jobs will be won or lost where there is tight competition at that point . I'd be pretty shocked if Williams is penned a starter with his very limited experience bit whoever they decide is fine with me. Just hope they live up to it.

I just want to see our D as a whole. Have we gotten faster as the goal in offseason was. Can this be a top ten D with the improved cornerback play. If our Defense stays healthy than this could be a special team. Big if.
Main thing we all want to see in pre-season, NO INJURIES!!

Btw I tend to tape preseason games then take notes on every play when I watch the replay. This year I think I will post clips on vine of things I saw. I will post them sometime after the game.

You are way too focused on size. Overcompensating?Originally posted by Yubaking View PostVerrett will be back soon enough and he is going to do well for us as long as the team can keep him in one piece. It wasn't really a press man scheme. Auburn played a lot of man coverage, but it was a more 'bend but don't break' philosophy. The secondary kept everything in front of them and Auburn depended on a better than average pass rush to disrupt the QB. Davis was often left on an island against the other teams best WR and he and Therizie (sp?) where the best guys in the secondary. His 40 time was affected by an injury and that's what dropped him out of the draft. There are reports that he's run with Reese a few times in coverage, so I don't think speed is a real issue with him. He has good game speed, size and strength but inconsistency could keep him off the active roster. He's a prime candidate for the PS, IMO.Originally posted by Beerman View PostI have no clue about Davis' consistency since I never really watched him in college. I do know they asked a lot of him and had him covering the best receivers. I also THINK I read he played in a primarily press man scheme that he was ill fitted to play.
The coaches and the preseason games will soon put an end to the speculation (if only a little bit).sigpic

Seems like he's been pretty consistently good though. If he carries it over to game situations I wouldn't be surprised if they decided to roll with him over Marshall. Cheaper, under control for more years and provides a little more versatility with his ability to return punts. I wonder if Marshall has a good preseason if any team would be willing to give up a 7th rounder for him.Originally posted by MakoShark View PostIt wasn't really a press man scheme.
