sure there are those. I'm offering a different perspective. there are rivers supporters and those who want a new direction. I was a staunch rivers supporter until this year where he has made some of the most absurd tosses. Amazing.
it's time to move on. the years after Fouts hurt but he was going downhill as well. like I said earlier it's time to rip the band-aid off instead of gently pealing it away only to prolong the agony. let the healing begin.

How about the games he did get us a lead only for the defense to blow it or get us in FG range to win and the kicker miss?

Or the times Rivers did lead the team back from behind or when trailing and manages to pull off a win? They get overlooked because of the losing.

there's NO WAY Rogers and Cousins look ANYWHERE CLOSE to wounded baby giraffe like rivers. They could probably run backwards drunk and still look less "wounded baby giraffe". rivers holds that title all on his own. I've never seen anyone as uncoordinated when running. but in his prime he was a very good QB...so sad it has dropped off a cliff this season.

Rivers looked just fine running the ball a mere 11 months ago ...

pr doesnt get sacked as much because he'd rather throw the ball away than take a sack. that's why other more mobile QBs get sacked more than pr...they think they can escape and buy more time. the stat I'm interested in is on these mobile QBs...how many times do they escape the pocket and get positive yards versus pr just throwing it away to avoid a sack? or how many times do the mobile QBs escape and get positive yards versus pr throwing it up for grabs? we all know a lot of mobile QBs get sacked more than pr but how does it compare to the yards they lose versus the yards they gain from running for yards? I'm sure Russell Wilson, a great passer AND a great runner, gets sacked more often than rivers. who here would NOT take wilson over rivers? I SURE AS HELL wouldnt be the one to take rivers over wilson.

and the jab at rivers looking like a wounded giraffe has been around a while now...not just this year when he's sucked more. if you look at him run he looks like one, no ifs, ands, or buts about it.

agree that yards are one thing, but scores is what makes the difference, and.... you're good w/RB by committee, w/Ek 'n JJ as your lead backs (again ?), w/Pip as your starting OT ?? and w/Tyrod starting while your top draft pick is cooling on the pine.... (in front of your 70k fans ?)

personally had spouted that I was most worried by our vulnerability @LT and the OC before the season ever started w/Okung 'n Pouncey, and.... we all were left wanting by our seemingly capable backups of Scott 'n Feeney (not meant as sarcastically as you might think, as personally was more aligned w/that thought train than not....)

and before we forget the Stub Hub factor, something the NFL wants/wanted little to nothing to do with.... case in point the zebras and calls against us by the such, and not to mention that any semblance of an LT/Oline, pretty much ensured a better PR QBR, and more wins, and yet you find yourself yearning for a mobile QB that will in all likelihood take more sax ??

not to mention the vaunted/heralded Aaron Rodgers didn't have an overly dissimilar season by Packer fans' accounts, as compared to Ol' Phil, and despite somehow finding his/their way to 13-3.

was it Ken Whisenhunt's fault ?? was it in despite of AL's greatness ?? his vaunted running attack, that follows him wherever he goes in the NFL ?? our GM that stuck w/MG3 and the other vets ??

as blanket statements, he is not making poor decisions, he has not lost a significant amount of zip on his longball, and he is plain and simple not in any sort of significant decline.

I totally agree. Keep Rivers and fix the rest and we're right back in the race. Let Rivers go and you're drafting real early again next year.

I look at the Rams and I look at the Chargers. Yes, the Rams were 9-7, Chargers 5-11.. but end of the day , neither team made the playoffs.. But the Rams are without draft picks and their cap space - though okay .. But the Chargers can win the city at least in year 1 - if
1) sign Rivers
2) fix OL
3) fix IDL and MLB
4) fix special teams
and if they have money or draft picks, a fast WR and CB
