Rookie minicamps delayed or axed?

Campbell is 33 years old. Still playing at a decent level considering his age. If I'm Baltimore, I offer a 3-year deal with an out after 2 years. If Campbell wants 4-5 years with no out, I'd balk at that. Not a bad pickup for a 5th rounder, though...

My guess Rivers signs with the Colts pretty quickly into free agency. They have a good OL, play 8, maybe 9 games indoors (I think the Texans play indoors) - he loves to play the Jags so thats a good game for weather. Coaching staff knows him. Seems like an ideal fit. I just hope they give him a lot of money so it will be easy to say "Damn, glad the Chargers didn't pay him that much" -- just basing that on last year.

If Rivers signs a $20 million contract, and then we go out and sign Conklin to a $20 mill contract, it is a wash.

We gain nothing.

If Rivers signs for $30 mill, and we sign Conklin for $15 mill, then it is a net loss for us of $15 mill, so we would get a pick, although probably a lesser pick.

We have to be outspent by teams signing our players away.

Comp picks are also assigned at the end of the round they are awarded. So, all 32 teams regular picks get taken before the comp picks, then you assign them. So, while on paper it looks like a 3rd round pick, the value is really top of the 4th round. Same thing with all the lower rounds. The only good thing is that you can now use them to make trades.

Possible, but all depends on the total FA's we signed compared to the total FA's that left us and signed elsewhere...we could have had a comp pick for Twill, but TT signed Old Man Davis...
