Apparently Lance’s current motion is so taxing on his body that he had to take days off from throwing at times last season. Silver used it as one example as to why there is some concern about Lance as the 49ers’ starting QB, and why Kyle Shanahan is tempted to hedge and keep Jimmy Garoppolo around.

Maybe Lance should try not to gun the rock so much and lighten up. When Sandy Koufax first came up with the Dodgers, he had the fastest fastball on the team, but he was wild. Reportedly catcher Johnny Roseboro told him to ease up on trying to fire bullets every pitch, and just work on his control. This was the turning point in Koufax's career.
