Three Chargers defenders practiced Monday for the first time in weeks.
Nose tackle Sean Lissemore, inside linebacker Manti Te'o and reserve defensive end Lawrence Guy were on the field. It was an encouraging sign, as the team began preparation for next Monday's regular-season opener against the Cardinals.
On Aug. 7, Guy (shoulder) was injured in the first exhibition game.
On Aug. 15, Lissemore (ankle) and Te'o (foot) were injured in the second.
Their recent activity suggests all three could play Week 1, but the team is not required to submit an injury report until Thursday. Player availability likelihoods aren't due until Saturday.
Safety Jahleel Addae (hamstring) was a noticeable absence. Like Lissemore and Te'o, he was injured Aug. 15 in the team's second exhibition game against the Seahawks. He did not practice Monday, working with an athletic trainer to the side.
Coaches moved cornerback Richard Marshall to safety following Addae's injury. The versatility could prove valuable if Addae cannot play in Arizona, a possibility that appears real.
Marshall, a ninth-year veteran, is playing safety for the second time in his life. The first time was in 2011, coincidentally for the Cardinals after safety Kerry Rhodes fractured his foot midseason.
