Thanks for posting that. Good times! The next week was painful though. They have it down as a 1979 game. I'm pretty sure it was January of 81.

A fun Wednesday treat! Really notice how Fouts gets back quickly and has his feet planted and ready to throw it downfield. Very accurate and he sure had a gun.

Alex, this is weird! I was stuck in an airport for 4 hours Monday evening. I stumbled across and watched both of those clips and now I see you have also found them.

        Thanks for posting.

Interesting to see Reggie McKenzie in there at LG for the Bills - and Conrad Dobler:

That's right. It was the playoffs following the 1980 regular season.

I went there looking for Chargers-Oilers 1979 playoffs film but couldn't find anything.

Also wanted to say I've pretty much accepted that although we did embarrass the two eventual Super Bowl teams in the 1979 season the loss against the Oilers in the playoffs may not have been so spectacularly surprising. As a poster here mentioned before, Clarence Williams was our RB that year. We did also have Lydell Mitchell on that team but he was at the end of his career. So we were totally at the mercy of our passing game - and that's not always a good thing for playoff teams. Add to that the fact that those Oilers were a gutsy group with a super gutsy -and injured at the time of that game Rob Carpenter - and you have the makings for a playoffs upset. Carpenter (2nd string to the injured Earl Campbell) had 67 rushing yards and the Oilers ran for 148 that day. That and Fouts five INT's were killer. Fouts kept throwing at Vernon Perry and not much changed. Perry had four interceptions alone. Turnovers and not being able to run or stop the run are playoff killers. Amazing we only lost by three points.

I found it by accident. The guy that posted that game titled it "1979" and so it came up when I put in "Chargers - Oilers 1979 playoffs". Coincidence! Major coincidence!!

Apparently not. It's a trick of the perspective and the fact that Royal is a normal sized human and King is bigger than most refrigerators.

Great photo, but yea, the perspective of the camera man makes it seem ridiculous.

That said, Dunlap is 6'9 and massive. He will dwarf 99.9% of the population.
