This is how bad the Raiders have been for so long - my 16 old daughter heard about he rumor of Allen getting fired and was kind of surprised. When I asked her why, she said they have always been bad so why would they blame the coach when their players aren't any good. I thought about it a bit realized that she was 4 years old the last time the Raiders where relevant. She has no clue about their past or "the greatness of the Raiders" or any of that junk. As long as she can remember, they are just a team we beat up on who has weird fans in costumes.

The #Raiders have some choices on an interim coach. Assumption is Tony Sparano. But Al Saunders also a consideration.

Mike and Mike said there's a rumor that Sparano doesn't want the job. Can't blame him.

It is going to have to be someone already on the staff, right? Has a team ever hired an interim head coach from the outside? I cannot recall that ever happening. So it will either be Soporano (who might actually get the team fired up and win a couple games until his act wears thin) or Saunders who has to be what, 80 years old by now?

Re: McCoy hiring Allen. Supposedly those two guys are as close as brothers. I think McCoy might be too smart to hire Allen. Not because Allen is a bad coach but rather because it is hard to have a really close friend work for you and because having McCoy's pet on the staff would really mess up the dynamic with the rest of the coaches. But we'll see.

I always gave nervous when they fire a coach because even a blind squirrel can get lucky sometimes. But acorns can't say 'pass' when a blind squirrel finds them. That's where the comparison breaks down.
