What a great catch but rewatching it Rivers had Royal wide open for a walk-in td. The CB on Royal and both safeties all went to Allen and left Royal wide open on the right side

Damn me, reading the title of this thread I got excited thinking OIP actually posted something positive but then I made the mistake of entering the thread and seeing it was just about Rivers choosing to throw to the covered receiver instead of the open receiver. Oh well, maybe next game Rivers will learn to throw to/find the uncovered receiver.1) Jason Verrett (CB) TCU

3) Will Sutton (DT) Arizona St
4) Jarvis Landry (WR) LSU

No one is disputing the fact that Royal was open.Originally posted by Heatmiser View PostI saw the highlight and OIP is right on. Royal is running by himself.

It depends on what you mean by "open"....there are many different ways to look at it, to varying degrees the WR will feel more open than the DB actually thinks the WR is open. The fan in View 33 will get a different meaning of open than one sitting in the endzone seats, the numerous permutations factored into the actual time vector when the athlete was open make it impossible to truly gauge how open he or she really was, now if this was basketball being open has to be seen through an entirely different prism and a new matrix must be constructed by which we can then define the term "open" as it occurred in this instance....so really was Eddie Royal "open" ?? I don't know that in this case we can truly know..and if we do agree he was open then resulting paradigm shift will then result in 16 more pages of discussion. Anyway, I had Floyd at the Flex on my Fantasy team so I'm glad Rivers missed Royal whether he was open or not.Originally posted by SFW View PostNo one is disputing the fact that Royal was open.Forget it Donny you're out of your element

It was more a comment on the Jets secondary than Rivers missing one of the 2 open WRs.Hashtag thepowderblues

And if you rewatch the rivers bomb to Royal when the Jets blitzed you will see Floyd running open near Royal. Defender trailing but breaking open and may have scored.
TGLike, how am I a traitor? Your team are traitors.

Well then, I'm glad his accuracy is at a demi-god level, since his field vision isn't.
But anyway, I'm still impressed when a QB finds an open receiver at the opposite side of the field. I think I take for granted the field vision a great QB has, because as a fan...I have a birds eye view of the game. While they..have around 3 seconds to finds an open receiver through a helmet, and at the same time 275lb athletic freaks of natures trying to murder them. Did anyone here play QB in college/HS? Did the helmet change your peripheral vision? In boxing, I hate wearing headgear..instant tunnel vision.
