3) Will Sutton (DT) Arizona St
4) Jarvis Landry (WR) LSU
5) John Urschel (OC) Penn St

7) Brock Coyle (ILB) Montana

No. Flowers would be a PERFECT example of the "Blue Chip" Free Agent signing this team NEEDS to make this off-season, IMO, to show the faithful that they are REALLY committed to winning. I'd try and keep Shereece Wright, too. The DB 'casualty' can be Gilchrist (although I wouldn't mind keeping all three).

I hope they find a way to re-sign both Flowers and Wright too. But I wonder how realistic or demanding Flowers or his agent is going to be on the price point. If he demands Revis money then they will have no choice but to let him walk (IMO).

7 to 9 mil per year is the range he should get IMO. Plus the scheme is perfect for him I would think he would like to stay but get paid, and to me that range is fair for both sides...
He's not going to get top CB money - He's not a fit in a press corner scheme. The top cover corner this offseason - Alterran Verner got like 6.5 mil per year. His tape playing in that scheme in KC is in our favor.
That said, I think TT will get the deal done before he hits free agency and it should be a fair amount.
Wright would be next on the list to keep the secondary intact if his demands are reasonable. His injury history should keep it around 3-4 mil per.
Gilchrist is gone IMO. Addae has already taken over and we already moved to a 3 corner nickel package (when healthy).
• Losing safety Jairus Byrd would seem like a huge blow to the New Orleans Saints . But he was playing bad football. Byrd was missing tackles all over the field and didn't seem to be playing with confidence. It still hurts to lose a top free agent, and he likely would have bounced back to play better, but Bryd wasn't coming close to being the player the Saints expected when they signed him to a big free-agent contract.
Just wanted to bring this up and one reason why I find a ton of value of bringing in guys on short initial deals to see if they fit your team. I think all of us would have loved Byrd on this team, but he's failed miserably on the Saints for whatever reason.
In any case, we have a slew of guys that were brought in on short deals that fit this team. Hopefully TT continues to make the right decisions and can sign the guys that have proved they are worth it.
While I'll agree, so far this looks to be the best secondary we have had in I don't know how long. It's looking very good so far.
But, we may want to wait until we see some more prolific passing offenses and then decide what kind of offer we would give. At least, let's see what Flowers, Verrett and company do against Denver (twice). If we sweep KC twice this year, Flowers may realize he wants to spend the rest of his career sticking it to KC and reminding them
So far of the passing offenses we've faced: Seattle (25th ranked), Arizona (22nd ranked but only we faced Palmer so it could be higher, and we also lost to them), JAX (28th ranked), Jets (32nd ranked), and the Bills (21st ranked, but higher after this week with Orton's big day). Personally, I'd say that Seattle's offense was the most formidable, we were just able to keep them sidelined with "keep away"
1). This early in the season, a big part of why the team we have played are ranked so low, is because our pass coverage/pass rush is playing well.
2). I don't think we will should necessarily pay Flowers for being the best CB. He is for now, and he will be one of the best, but who knows if he can keep it up and be #1 for the rest of the season.
The reason we should probably sign him, is Flowers was a big part of why the rest of the secondary is playing so well. He comes in late, does a great job of helping young guys, while he is learning the D himself. KC complains about him not being a leader and not being what they wanted, yet he is a perfect fit for our D, and seems to be a great locker room guy and a great team leader. Some guys are more important to their teams because of how they elevate the play of everyone around them, and Flowers has done that.
