The plan is provide adequate blocking to execute a quick, easy pass or handoff on the majority of downs. Having multiple pass rushers arrive in Herbert's face at the same time as the ball hits his hands is an obvious handicap. Many of us visualize adequate blocking and improved playcalling as an improvement that will facilitate making plays and moving the football, not taking a nap while cuddling the football.

River sometimes sounds like he could play QB in Gro's offense behind Gro's OL and its actually very easy.Originally posted by sonorajim View Post

River hates Herbert - he always has and he always will. Its ok, he's our River, he's one of us - we warmly accept him for his glaring extraordinary flaw(s). He can hate hate hate, or however it is that song goes. God bless him.

As I pointed out many times over the past two years, the biggest problem with the offense was Gro. Certainly not Herbert.Originally posted by dmac_bolt View Post

The worst criticism I’ve ever posted about Herbert is he hasn’t proven he’s elite to me and many national media pundits.
Why you interpret that as I hate him is a weird flex but my wish is every TPB husband has a wife that adores him as much as you passionately defend Herbert.

Roman took the hit for lousy OL blocking which was compounded by injuries to OTs and RBs. We'll never know how things would have gone if his game plan had been physically healthy and on the field. We all know that he didn't adjust well.Originally posted by Riverwalk View Post

IMO the biggest problem with our offense was piss poor OL blocking.
We'll see how Herbert's lack of proven eliteness handicaps McDaniel's well blocked offense.

Roman is still an archaic, unimaginative play caller that did not design anything to help Herbert with his situationOriginally posted by sonorajim View Post

We won 11 games and made the playoffs. We had some very good offensive games. Not all were 16-13 or some such.Originally posted by CanadianBoltFan View Post

But 3-16 was unforgivable and he's gone. Now works for the other Harbaugh.
That said, I'll stick with OL blocking, rather the lack thereof being the worst problem. Pretending that a better scheme over comes no blocking? Good luck with that.

With Slater, Alt, N. Harris and O. Hampton all healthy this year ?
We will never know. Zion and Becton could have been better
Boz ? I don't think so

I do agree with you on this. Two things can be true at once.Originally posted by sonorajim View Post

I think Hebert and the offense will be far better off with the switch at OC, and I believe what I said, Roman's play calling didn't help Herbert...but there is no question that historically bad protection was the biggest thing that held back the offense
Roman could have done better with a functional OL for sure ....but it also shows we need a modern OC that can get even more of of Herbert and deal with adversity better.

that's not your worst criticism. Clearly the TPB reaction to your posts is not aligned with what you think you posted because your posts are getting ratioed today. Not by me, by the rest of TPB. I don't care - its your game and I'll let you play through. As I said, have fun.Justin Herbert 2026 MVP Watch

At OC anyway and I strongly suspect C-OG improvement is coming to join our returning great OTs.
