I was thinking of when you might get too concerned with how receptive the crowd will be on a given night. And how to get more into the present moment and what you can actually control.

There's no control, comedy is too subjective - so I try to write stuff that I feel would appeal to just about everyone. I've gone in front of audiences where there's only 10 - 12 people as well as 250 and all it
takes is for one person to laugh & there's usually a wave of laughter. I have experienced *crickets * on a joke before, but you just keep plowing through your stuff, trying to hit them with one of your funnier
jokes after the unsuccessful one and then try the unsuccessful one in front of a different crowd. If it still gets crickets, I toss that bit out.

I just got word that I was selected for the Blue Whale Comedy Festival. I don't know who I'm opening up for yet, but I got a Friday night at 10:00 pm pimp spot! There will be some pretty awesome comedians there.

Btw, I saw Eddie Izzard at the Hwd Bowl saturday (he was brilliant) and he did a Q&A with some of us fans 2 hours before the show.
I thought of you during this session because one young comic asked for his best advice for entertainers starting out on a career. He said to do 100 gigs because it will show you if you really want it, and you will develop your own voice during the process.
Sometimes simple advice is the best type.
