Tight end/fullback Bruce Miller already lost his job with the San Francisco 49ers for his behavior on Monday night, and now he has to face the music in the justice system.

On Thursday, prosecutors charged Miller with seven felonies and one misdemeanor after he allegedly assaulted two men in a Fisherman’s Wharf hotel on Monday.

Miller was arrested after stumbling into the hotel and assaulting a 70-year old man, allegedly with the man’s own cane, and the elderly man’s son. Both victims were taken to the hospital with injuries.

Surveillance video showed Miller bloody and inebriated at the time of the attack.

Because one of his victims is elderly, Miller faces some enhanced charges.

The full list of his felony charges: one count of assault with a deadly weapon, not a firearm (the alleged weapon is a cane); one count of assault with force likely to cause great bodily injury; one count of inflicting injury on an elder or dependent adult likely to cause great bodily injury; one count of battery with serious bodily injury; two counts of criminal threats; and one count of assault with force likely to cause great bodily injury. He was also charged with misdemeanor battery.

Miller also apparently got into an argument over brisket sandwiches at a restaurant a few hours before the assault, but there were no charges in connection with that incident.

Miller will be arraigned on Friday afternoon.

Why should they? Bad enough to disrespect the flag at any point, but to distract from 9/11 is just incredibly dumb.

I do. Lightning does. CaptainD weight in with a fuck em. chargerkdb commented about how he couldn't think less of them. A quick browse of social media shows a crap ton more people don't think it is appropriate. So a lot of people do.

I acknowledge it's a distraction to you and the others here. But I wonder if it's that way only because you happen to disagree with the players choice to kneel - or whatever else besides standing with hand on heart - during the anthem. Because it's not a distraction to me at all. I consider both the 9/11 anniversary a deeply emotional thing as well as the players choice to do whatever they wish during the anthem. Both are important for me. So I don't see any distraction. And if players want to do whatever during the 9/11 salute I'm fine with that too. But whatever. We all have our hot buttons I guess.

Hopefully the guy in charge of the pregame/anthem playing will stop the anthem if the team pulls any silly shit, especially, as most have said, it being 11 September.

My question to you guys is, what happens if most of the league does the same, are you going to boycott the NFL?

I personally see nothing wrong with standing up for what you believe in. Don't judge a man until you've walked a mile in his shoes.

I often hear the excuse that these guys are well paid millionaires. You have no idea how they've grown up, who they have lost in their family or how they've been affected by this. Just because they managed to buck the system does not mean they had an easy life on the way up and have never felt the effects of either racism or police brutaility. Even if that's not the case and they simply want to stand up for those that can't in the community they associate themselves with, there's nothing wrong with it if that is what you believe in.

To each his own I say and that's what makes this country special. This, "your with me or against me" crap reeks of communism, facism and totalitarianism, not of democracy.

In our democracy, the people and the will of the people come first and foremost. Not the flag, not the government but the people that have the right to protest what they feel is unjust and against the principles that are protected under the US constitution.
The US constitution is the most sacred centerpiece of what this country stands for, not the flag. That is not only my opinion but that of the people that founded this country.

                      That was awesome, Rolling.

Personally I find what Kaepernick and other "kneelers" are doing is inspiring. They are true Americans exemplifying exactly what you're referring to, Rolling Thunder.

Honestly, I find all these folks who are troubled so much by players kneeling during the anthem as kind of scary. Because it means that there is a good segment of the population that is more susceptible to a Totalitarian - or at least Authoritarian - regime. We need to remember football games are a sporting event and operate in the civilian world - and are in no way military. Therefore, how can one be upset when a fellow free citizen chooses not to stand for the national anthem? The players are in a civilian world playing a sporting event. Football teams can't force anyone to do anything during the anthem. If you want Totalitarian rules then maybe you are living in the wrong country.

Quit with the totalitarian bs. A lot of people gave their life for that flag. No one's personal cause is above that. The star spangled banner isn't a hijack opportunity to highlight awareness for anything else. It's a time to pay respect. So get off your ass and show some respect to those who paid he ultimate sacrifice, you millionaire pussy. Totalitarian my ass.

My comment was misunderstood. The NFL is fucked up for using the 2001 terrorist attacks as part of its commercial product.
Does this business of profiting off tragedy occur on a mass scale in other countries?
Does the Israeli soccer league bust out a pregame Kristallnacht extravaganza?
Do Native American casinos have a Trail of Tears blowout before the big keno championship?
I wonder if, in Indonesia, the table-tennis league holds a tsunami showcase right before it opens up the beer stands and starts showing Diet Coke ads? (I don't even know if Indonesians play ping pong - I'm probably being racist.)
In my mind, if you are a religious person who had a close relationship with somebody who died in one of the September 11 attacks or somebody who served in one of the wars the U.S. launched in the War on Terror, then I get why you would want some personal memorial.
But this NFL shit where we all pretend, by watching football and eating lukewarm hot dogs, that we are patriots - fuck that. We aren't patriots - we are just people being entertained while drinking and screaming at a TV screen.
I'm sorry for all those who died due to September 11. Still - I refuse to watch any for-profit rememberance. I can't even watch the buildings fall with those poor people leaping to their deaths - it bothers me too much. I really hate 9/11 - I even hate that we gave it a shortened-nickname. What the fuck? 9/11? Who is the idiot who popularized that? It was mass murder by terrorists - a horrible tragedy, not something that should sound like a convenience store.
If we want to celebrate a day, let us dedicate the day our soldiers blasted Osama. I say we remember that day every year by shitting on a picture of his dead face while holding up our middle fingers, and, in Saudi Arabia, we erect 10,000-foot-by-10,000-foot photos of the annual Shit-On-Osama-Fest.
