Barnes looks like one of those Tampa Bay LB’s. Good in coverage, plus edge rusher, non -stop motor, using arm length to separate and shed, wingspan to close and finish sacks. Looks like a mike, with OLB skill. Hard nosed, over achiever.

Dallas would do well and bolster often injured but dynamic LB core.

    10. Surtain was the pick whole way. Would love Chargers/Staley to grab him if Cowboys, go Pitts, WR or Parsons.

    44. Richie Grant to go along w/Surtain would be a great upgrade for Cowboys secondary. Best skilled, plug and play safety in this class. For heady and position diverse. Again would love for the Chargers to select him.

    75. Dayo Odeyingbo DL was my selection to be future edge rushing DE. Aldon Smith is 31 now and unrestricted free agent. Understudy from DeMarcus Lawerence who is 28 and has had some injury concerns. Dayo is 6-5 285 with huge wingspan 86 3/8” coming off acl otherwise borderline 1st early second day pick. Cowboys have track record selecting these type of players coming off injury, especially ACL and Dayo is from Irvington Texas, probably dreamed of playing for the Cowboys.

    99. Stone Forsyth, OT Georgia 6080 307 as Tyron Smith back-up apprentice and future LT of the Dallas Cowboys. Looks like NFL LT starter in pass pro, but will need to develop in run blocking department, which maybe asking a lot given his frame, but know he can seal off the edge.

    115. Derrick Barnes, LB Purdue 6003 238 33 3/8 arms, 9 3/4” hands, 4.57 forty, 2.58 20 yard split, 1.70 10 yard split, 37 vertical 9’11”, BJ 4.32 Short shuttle.

    rest of draft incomplete.

Stone is a Florida boy......as in Gator.........

About the only thing a Gator and a Bulldog have in common is that they hate each other.

Even better, makes even more sense now to address position. Just heard that Sean Lee retired. WU auto pick now home run addressing LB with Derrick Barnes!

I'll do the Steelers first. First of all I did not see that I had been assigned the Steelers until probably 48 hours before. So I did a quick needs assessment by looking at 2 different sites. To my surprise in just 2 sites they had 10 positions listed as "need" so how could I go wrong???

Round 1 - #24 - Travis Etienne RB Clemson. RB was listed at both sites. I see this "swiss army knife" as a great piece for Ben to exploit. He is a coverage nightmare coming out of the backfield for a swing and as a runner as well. Big Ben and Mike T. could make this kid ROY material.

Round 2 - #55 - Jaylen Mayfield OT Michigan. Pitts OL needs are obvious. This kid at 6 - 5 319 is a needed and very welcome addition. For a second rounder he is plug and play in Pittsburgh day one.

Round 3 - # 87 - Tommy Tremble TE Notre Dame. All the way up to being on the clock, I was going to double down on IOL for Pittsburgh. Eichenberger, Forsythe and Christensen were all there but Tremble solved another need and can block too. A big bonus in September as he will be asked to do a lot of that with Tomlin at the helm. A nice piece that can catch 60 - 80 passes and score touchdowns too. At 6 - 4 248 he is no pushover for a D.

                Now the RAYYYDUHHHSSSSS......!!!!

This team was dismantled in the off season by Maycock. Some positions were decimated. I consulted my Raider buddy and I asked him about need BESIDES OL. The first words out of his mouth were "edge, I have no pass rush" He also cited his DB's were thin and in cases lacking. Okay......my mission was clear.

Round 1 - #17 - Tevin Jenkins OT Oklahoma State. A huge need in Raiderville filled with what some argue is the OT3 of the draft. Anyway by the time I picked, Sewell, Slater Darrisaw and even AVT were gone. Tevin as a consolation prize is tough to beat. Unlike Darrisaw, there are no questions about his heart or desire. He is a junkyard dog type of fighter and wants to kick your ass. At 6-6 and 315 he can do that which makes him a perfect Raider.

Round 2 - #48 - Joseph Ossai OLB/Edge Texas. A great piece to drop on the edge to pressure the QB all day long. 6-3 245 of can get it done. Need filled.

Round 3 - # 79 & #80. 79 was Hamsah Nasrildeen S Florida State and 80 was Benjamin St. Juste CB Minnesota. Talk about needs filled? With the unique position of having back to back picks early(er) in a draft, I wasted no time in plugging the DB room with 2 big, both listed at 6-3 and 213 and 200 pounds respectively, bodies. Now I have no confidence that Gus will know how to use them, but that is Jon's problem. These 2 won't get bullied off the ball and have the height to live in the air filled by big TE's and WR's Remember that our big receiver, Mike W is only 6-4 so there is nothing lost vertically at the start.

Round 3 - #102 - Simi Fehoko WR Stanford. Size matters and after Nico, this kid at 6 - 4 225 stood out. I received some feedback that he was drafted too early. In fact, although I cannot find the post, this person thought he was a fifth to sixth rounder. I have been mocking him to us in R4 consistantly so I thought that instead of adding another OL I could take him a few spots from the 4th round rather than lose him waiting to 121. I do not feel he was a terrible reach and Carr would love the kid.

That would be a hell of a haul, especially for the D. 6 new defensive pieces in the first 4. That would give me a woody wu-dai........wouldn't you agree??

I really like what you did for the Chargers. Gave Staley a lot of new toys to play with in the secondary, particularly the corners and free safety...also some nice beef for the OL. Quantity and quality. Would love if they could trade down and accumulate this many good picks.

                        Yeah I'll stand by that.

He has some value later imo but he isn't a high point catcher for those mis matches you mention. He probably can, but he don't demonstrate it in his tape.

Some guys just don't go up and get the ball. It's why we never used Osgood in the red zone

This is what I said except I said some pundits have him a 6th rounder. And even Bolt Dude who loves him has him in the 6th in his sig mock

I don't think he would be a starter in LV. ...or on our team.
Don't see him beating out Tyron Johnson but he has value as a development WR and STs player so not bashing him at all.
Tape I've seen of him he isn't a high point type of catcher as many passes were long throws to him but I haven't seen every tape either.
Tyrell Williams wasn't a high point catcher either at 6'4"

Props to the staff of woodeye Scouting Bureau.
                          Highly paid--best in the business.
                          BD. Fl. lffn.

                          OL you say...rightfully so.
We must have two direct hit bulls eyes...talent and scheme fit as much as position...sort it out.

DB have you seen our population there ? Staley MUST have a S and two CBs at least.

DL/EDGE there must be diverse skillsets for different looks and mismatches.

Osa should be a nice chess piece. Joseph is the only true two gapping DT we have. A scrappy 1TECH late would be nice, to challenge Fehoko.

EDGE was a tough, tough call, with disagreement amongst the staff. Rashed was off in '21 but had production in a lot of areas previously. He is a plus run defender.

Bosa, Tillery, Chenna, Fackrell, Derwin give us pass rush juice. Roche and the Tall Boys were very close runners up at this key pick. The trade up to #100 was because we had too many picks !

The three bonus late picks bring complete wild cards, including weaponry, finally. No problem there, late in this draft.

Yes the elephant in the room is that I would not give up any '22 picks to go get Penei, or just select Darrisaw at #13, but look at this haul !

TT you are at your fork in the road. Don't be an AJ, with some brilliant drafting, followed by disasterous GMing.

Hopefully this fantasy GM stuff provides good peripheral vision now at TPB for what's in store in the real world come Thursday.

It is time for LAC to make a quantum leap...be pumped !
