Forget about Travon Walker at 17.

But he wasn't doing that. The guy doing all the dirty work, going 100% every snap regardless of assignment, was Travon Walker.

Davis is still (obviously) a supreme athlete. But reading his scouting reports and then watching him play makes me feel like I'm in the twilight zone or something. Totally different player. He has some snaps where he explodes off the ball (maybe 1/3 of his, so 10% of the defense snaps). The rest he just kinda stands up and pushes at the OL.

Why is he so inconsistent? Conditioning? Technique? Desire? Don't know. But it's something you better have a plan to deal with. If you can get him to operate at the level of his good snaps consistently he's a top 5 pick. If you can't he's a liability.
I'd rather have Nakobe Dean, but he'll never make it to 17.

EDIT:. Some of the later mocks have him dropping into the 20s so who knows.

Could Stingley Jr-CB fall to #17 because of the foot injury?

Penn State EDGE Arnold Ebiketie with a 10-foot, eight-inch broad jump and a 38-inch vertical. Both in the 90+ percentile at his position. Enormous jumps for him.

Aligned with the amazing collective speed we've seen at this combine, the biggest storyline, to me, is how these players are coming into these workouts light. Maximizing is speed is clearly the name of the game now.

Show the speed now, bulk up for the reps at 225lbs on pro day. Make some money.

This DT class doesn't have a bunch of penetrating three-techniques. It's loaded at the nose tackle spot. UGA's Jordan Davis. UConn's Travis Jones. Marquan McCall from Kentucky (Josh your analysis is needed, I really like him), Noah Elliss from Idado. Neil Farrell Jr. from LSU. Lots of quality big bodies inside in this class.

                    Chris Trapasso

Yeah, McCall is a guy that I thought performed better than Quinton Bohanna, who was a DT taken No. 192 overall by the Cowboys in the 2021 NFL Draft, in 2020. He has 0-technique size but explodes off the ball. He suffered an injury this year so I was curious to see how he carried his weight once he returned and he kept it in check. For the teams that miss on Jordan Davis and Travis Jones at the top, I think McCall is a guy that you take a few rounds later and feel good about.

4.58 for JJ is amazing. Probably end up with a sub 4.5 official.

Devin Lloyd listed at 6'4 on so many draft sites. 4.7 isnt great. Dude is a baller and amazing in the pass game.

When watching Tennessee defensive tackle Matthew Butler, the trait that gets you excited is his first step quickness. He is consistently first off the ball. I will be curious to see his 10-yard split.

Matthew Butler is one of the "angriest" defensive linemen in this class. I'm fine with his 5.04 in the 40.
