The tight end position is not nearly as important as a pass-rusher, defensive tackle, or cornerback. Taking Bowers over a talented player at any of the aforementioned positions and saying, "Well, we have at least seven picks" is implying that you think we're going to find solutions to those areas of need in Rounds 2 through 7. The reality is, those positions are not nearly as easy to find in later rounds.
    Really?

Kelce hasn't been important to Mahomes and all the success in KC? How many CBs have the Chiefs gone through during their 7 division titles?

Depending on who we retain the defense can be vastly improved with getting some real CBs. The crutch of the team was fourth and fail Staley and his stupid defensive schemes.
Better CBs would solve 60% of our defensive issues.

On the other hand the offense needs an over hall and at important positions such as O line, RB, TE, and even WR. I don't disagree that CB and edge are important cogs of the D.
But you can find DTs in every round and the same goes for OGs. OTs, CBs and edge rushers are premium positions. But the the kind of players that Harrison and Bowers are can
change the whole dynamics of the offense and make no mistake about it, this is an QB offensive league.

All you have to do is watch the 49ers. The D got burned for 29 points and lost because the 49ers put up 45.

I humbly disagree with you. If it's between Harrison, Bowers or the top rated CB I go with one of the two.

Harrison and Bowers are special talents. To get Herbert re booted you take one of those two over a good cover corner

What's most important is we get good players in the first three rounds at the very least! Bowers in the first round could be a good gamble because it would give Herbert another weapon and let's say Harbaugh is our next HC, pretty sure he could use Bowers effectively and coach him up! If OT Alt is on the board you would have to consider him also. We need another stud OT!

Look at the Raven's OT situation.
I think Woodeye eluded to this but...
If Slater ever went down, it would be devastating.
I'm not suggesting we spend a top 10 pick on LOT backup but if they could serve as a starter at ROT and serve as a backup LOT, you'd have to consider that value.
If MH2 is gone, and we can't trade down, OL is in play.

Agreed. Normally I wouldn't think going back to back #1 WRs was a good idea, but with the salary cap mess we've made there's a chance that Williams AND Allen are gone. You just can't do that to the kid without grabbing one of these 2.

Kelce is possibly the greatest tight end in NFL history, and he was drafted in the third round. Reid drafted offensive tackle Eric Fisher first overall the same year he took Kelce in the third round. If Kelce isn't the greatest tight end in NFL history right now, it's Rob Gronkowski, and he was drafted in the second round.

You're also neglecting the fact that Mahomes had Tyreek Hill (drafted in the fifth round), Kareem Hunt (drafted in the third round), Juju Smith-Schuster (originally drafted in the second round by the Steelers, signed a cheap deal with the Chiefs), and others taken after the first round. Reid and his front office have not drafted a wide receiver or tight end in the first round during their entire tenure in Kansas City. They have used one first-round pick on an offensive skill player, Clyde Edwards-Helaire, with the 32nd overall selection in 2020, and he's a backup to Isiah Pacheco, a seventh-round pick. They have used two first-round picks on cornerbacks (Marcus Peters and Trent McDuffie), two on offensive tackles (Fisher and a first-rounder traded for Orlando Brown), and two on pass-rushers (Dee Ford and a first-rounder traded for Frank Clark). So, yeah, the Chiefs don't value the tight end position over the ones I mentioned.

The Chiefs struck gold with Tyreek Hill and Kelce awhile back, so they have not needed to spend a 1rst rounder on a receiver.
Although Hill left last year, it came after that draft and they then won a Super Bowl without him.

Hill and Kelce fell because of 'behavioral' isssues .... Reid doesn't mind picking up those types.

Given their situation, look for them to spend a 1rst on a receiver next draft .... unless they are targeting a guy who beat up a girl friend and will be available later on.
