Verrett blanketed Odell Beckham Jr. in college ... so you knew how good he was when healthy.

Not interested in a 4.5 cb in the top half of the 1rst.
Even Telesco wouldn't be fine with it.
Good point. Harbaugh's team played against KA not long ago.
Harbaugh and Minter know what they think but we don't have a GM or OC yet.
I expect Harbaugh and GM set the draft board after discussion with scouts, etc.

But first - review current roster and make some cap / FA decisions. I think we need that GM & OC by the 1st.

Idf take the third to move 3 spots if we can still get our guy. But Tennessee is also a ? . They could go OL OR Bowers IMO....so who knows. Id pick Bowers at 5 to be sure.

And Sinnott is similar or he would be rated higher than round 3-4. and i do like him but don think he can start right away.
Well ... In past draft I had my own ideas about players.
And got similar responses about player would be rated higher. The list is long. And I have been on the correct side more than incorrect.

For me B.Sinnott is a versatile TE. Blocks well, catches well.
You can line him up as Hback and he will do a great job as lead blocker.
I like seeing a TE prospect deck a player with his block and then go get another player and drive him 10 yards back while the RB trots in behind him for easy TD. I watch Sinnott do that and it was beautiful to me. Looking like G.Kittle on that play.
Who has it better than us?

It’s not a few, it’s not some, it’s ALL. I have never seen him rated T10. Maybe he is better than Arnold against college receivers, that doesnt make him a T10 pick. Maybe neither should be. They are projecting to the next level, not giving trophies for how they play against college receivers.

Maybe college opponents found it easier to attack other parts of their defense. great. That doesn’t prove he’s T10. He was great in college, maybe he is - but a deeper dissection of evidence is required that he is T10. Video of him not making a play because coaches went to other parts of the field isn’t proof he projects to the pro level as a T10 elite talent. But maybe he does - I’m open to learn.

I’ll stand by my pensive pending status: if he runs a 4.55, he’s not a Top 10 talent. Jmo. That can work great in college but may not in the pros. Bama also has DL/Edge players rated top talent, maybe pass rush covered for his lack of speed - or maybe he “plays” like a 4.4 DB.

If he runs a 4.45, he is Top10 talent. His hips are very loose and fluid, he reacts quickly with great balance and control to adjust and mirror the receiver and stick with him through cuts and moves. He has traits that are excellent. But if he runs 4.55, he’ll be exposed at the pro level. He needs to run at the combine if he wants a T10 selection. He and his advisors fully know the only question is his speed. If he doesnt run, everyone will assume they know why.

If he runs mid 4.4’s,. I’m down with a high pick on him. I think Harbo probably will build closer to the trench but anybody’s guess is as good as the next and a great CB is a great asset to a defense.
Not every analyst has left him out of the Top-10. Earlier mocks have him Top-10 consistently. They only started dropping him down once rumors about his 4.55 surfaced. If he runs a 4.55 at the combine or Pro Day... he drops out of my Top-12. His tape shows that he plays fast. Like you noted... loose hips, reaction speed, inside/outside technique, and length are the traits that make me see him as a Top-12 prospect. Those are the traits that opposing coaches see when they stay away.

Harbaugh will definitely focus on building the trenches... but a trade-back makes a lot of sense if that's what he's doing. 3rd round is the sweet spot for DL and LB's IMO. I could see him drafting Zac Zinter in the mid-3rd or early-4th. @Stanford and @Michigan he had solid IOL (DeCastro and Zinter). He had solid OT's @SF already on the OL. I'm curious to see what he does @RT.

The NFL puts a premium on CB's. His brother has Marlon Humphrey @Balt. He also benefitted greatly when Richard Sherman moved from WR to CB @Stanford. If he decides he can get by w/o a premium cover CB... I'll roll with Harbaugh's decision. But Michigan's offense was slowed greatly by Alabama's defense. Michigan probably loses that game if Alabama's QB (Milroe) has a better game.

Two of Bowers catches were TE screens that went no where and two others he didnt catch were bad throws. On the long pass to the WR that was complete, Bowers was open in the middle w/ KA covering but he went deep instead @ the 9 min mark. Next play Kool Aid got hit by his own guy and didnt return.
I'm not downgrading a player for injury... If I did that, I'd have to downgrade Bowers as well for missing 2 games. Georgia's offense still did very well with Bowers out during those games. Did you notice that when #9 (a very good player BTW) took over for KA... the defense did change. No longer were they shutting down one side of the offense anymore. At that juncture, Alabama switched back to a more traditional scheme (CB's switching sides). They didn't stay away from #9 like they did with KA.

              Thats the thing.

Yes the Chargers have other needs. Yes we need a CB. But there are good CBs in every draft. But a TE like Bowers only comes along once in a while. We cant fill all our needs in one draft, so in the big long term picture we can draft defenders over the next 2 drafts.

You jump on Bowers now while you have the rare chance, and we could have the joy, and effectiveness, of watching our own Kelce for the next 10 years. And I have said it before and I will say it again. Travis Kelce has had more to do with the Chiefs success over the last 7 years far more than any and all CBs who have played for the Chiefs.

Not what I meant. My point was they didn't change their offense and throw more to that side just because he was out while you said they stayed away from him. They didn't change at all.

Looks to me they were just running their offense with or without McKinstrey in there.
If you think it was different, then we weren't watching the same tape.
You didn't even notice or mention he got injured and was out of the game or anything was different til I mentioned it.

There are three of them playing in today's conference championship games. And none of them were drafted in the first round.

Look at this shit Kelce is just all over the field. That’s the deal with Bowers that just knows where to be for first downs.
