Look at the Ravens. Kyle Hamilton. The Ravens are so good because they just draft best player available.

Everybody talked shit about Kyle Hamilton. He’s too big. He’s too slow. Not fast enough. Horrible in the 40.

Where did the Ravens get him in the draft 15th???? He was just great on tape at Notre Dame. And played great in games. That’s what they go off of. It’s simple.

Travis Kelce 9 catches for 96 yds. 1 touchdown. At the half. The half.

            Apples and oranges.

That has nothing to do with the 2024 draft and the fact that a generational stud playmaker is going to go in the first 10-12 picks. There are no TEs remotely close to Bowers available in later rounds. In trrms of the most talented overall players in this draft, Bowers is in every top 5, sometimes top 3.

There are times you have to look outside positional value charts when it comes to special players. If Bowers is as good as advertised in the NFL he makes more impact over the years than ANY CB, just like Kelce has.

Did 1st round picksJammer or Merriman have better careers and impact than Antonio Gates? That would be a no, its Gates who will be wearing a yellow jacket in Canton. Jammer was a CB taken at 5. Solid payer, not great. Did he ever even make a Pro Bowl?

All these tight ends do is move the chains.

Got 1. They start 5 OLs and they play every offense snap.
TE is just 1 guy who won't play every snap. If Bowers was actually generational then he would be worth it. He is not.

Slater the #13 pick of his draft should move back to RT.
He played there in college before switch to LT his senior year.
Joe Alt is Herbert/Harbaugh LT for the offense and the #5 pick.

Lets move a top 5 NFL left tackle who was an all pro as a rookie to RT for an unproven rookie that will likley never be as good as Slater??

Slater and his agent will never go for that, as his rookie deal comes to an end. He will want to be paid like the stud left tackle he is

Really? you don't think Joe Alt can play as good as Slater.
Slater was seen as a guy who might have to kick inside if he struggled outside. He didn't. And he will excel at RT which has been a giant whole in the offense every year of Justin career.
Joe Alt is mocked higher than Bowers by Jeremiah and the first OL off the board at 7 to Titans. And he says about him that he will protect the QB blind side for years. I want that for Justin. I don't expect the Chargers draft in top 10 again for as long as Harbaugh is coach. So I'm getting the OT at #5 now.

gates was a udfa, how many tightends were ranked ahead of him in the draft? its impossible to know if any of the tightends will be just as if not more impactful than bowers

An interesting conversation. Alt could be a good LT, he could also play RT. Not saying he wont, just saying Slater has already played left tackle in the NFL at an All Pro level.

Aside from DJ, in most mocks you can pencil in Bowers at 5 and Alt at 7. Harbaugh might want to start with the line of scrimmage but you also have to look at roster management. You are not getting out of Pipkins contract this year. Maybe better coaching and a new center can improve the o line all it needs for this year, that and a stud TE who is also a great and willing blocker

Gates didn't play football in college so he wasn't ranked.
