Senior Bowl set to KO; DE Robinson named top player … The Senior Bowl game is set to get underway at 1 PM ET on the NFL Network. Here are the rosters for the National and American teams. Unfortunately, though, those rosters do not include the players’ numbers; however, those are available in PDF form here in several formats. (Scroll down to find the two teams separately in numerical order.) For the record, a panel of NFL front office people and scouts named Missouri DE Darius Robinson as the overall best player over the course of the 3 days of practice. And we heartily agree as Robinson, who has emerged as a possible late first-round candidate for the upcoming draft, was dominant all week. Other players named the best at their positions for the teams include QBs Michael Penix and Spencer Rattler, WRs Ladd McConkey and Malachi Corley, OT Taliese Fuaga and CB Quinyon Mitchell. Here is the full lists of ‘best at position’ award winners at this week’s Senior Bowl practises.

National team Senior Bowl practice wrap … You know its kind of a lighter practice when the offensive and defensive linemen are running routes, catching passes and working on their Heisman poses! Of course, that’s not all that happened in today’s afternoon practice at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, but like the morning session it was a whole lot more laid back than the earlier practices. So much so that there wasn’t a whole lot to report today, so we’ll get right to the best players picks for the American team, although we note that it was a much harder choice than it was for the National team this morning. Again, in no particular order the American team players that really stood out:
    • DE Darius Robinson, Missouri
    • DT T’Vondre Sweat, Texas
    • OG Javion Cohen, Miami
    • OG Christian Hayes, UConn
    • WR Ja’Quan Jackson, Tulane
    • OT Christian Jones, Texas
    • WR Jamari Thrash, Louisville

At the same time, we felt there were a number of players on the American team that were really close to making the above list so again in no particular order the ‘honorary mention’ list: Georgia WR Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint, Florida State TE Jaheim Bell, Missouri OT Javon Foster, Texas A&M OG Layden Robinson, DTs Justin Egoigbe of Alabama, McKinnley Jackson of Texas A&M, Braden Fiske of Florida State and Marcus Harris of Auburn, CBs Jarvis Brownlee of Louisville and Fresno State’s Carlton Johnson and Georgia S Javon Bullard.

On the other hand, players that we were hoping to see a little more production from this week on the American team include Alabama ER Chris Braswell and Florida State WR Johnny Wilson, not to mention the QBs none of whom threw the ball all that well.

National team Senior Bowl practice review … In no particular order, here are the players we thought really stood out at the Senior Bowl morning practices this week.
    • CB Quinyon Mitchell, Toledo
    • OT Taliese Fuaga, Oregon State
    • WR Roman Wilson, Michigan
    • DT Tyler Davis, Clemson
    • C Jackson Powers- Johnson, Oregon
    • C/G Dominick Puni, Kansas
    • C/G Tanor Bortolini, Wisconsin
    • CB Khyree Jackson, Oregon
    • DT Gabe Hall, Baylor
    • LB Payton Wilson, NC State
    • WR Javon Baker, UCF
    • DE Jaylin Harrell, Michigan
    • RB Marshawn Lloyd, Southern California

On the other hand, there is really no way to spin the fact that it was not a great week for any of the three QBs – Michael Penix, Bo Nix, and Sam Hartman – on the National team. as a general rule, NFL seldom significantly downgrade players who don’t excel at the Senior Bowl, but it was a chance for these guys, especially Penix and Nix who were hoping to show the pros that they are first-round worthy, to make a statement.

Same story for players at other positions, but guys who clearly did not do much to enhance their grades this week included North Carolina WR Tez Walker, who could get open but really struggled to catch the ball, Arizona OT Jordan Morgan, Utah OG Sataoa Laumea, and Oregon DE Brandon Dorlus,

Jackson, Isaac standout at morning Senior Bowl practice … This morning’s National team Senior Bowl practice was somewhat of a muted affair which wasn’t quite a walk-through but certainly lacked the intensity of the first two days in Mobile. However, a couple of guys did stand out this morning. Oregon CB Khyree Jackson, in particular, was the best player on the field this morning as he broke up a number of passes, while giving up literally nothing. Penn State DE Adisa Issac also had a solid practice as he generated consistent pressure with some speed and quickness around the edge. We also wanted to mention Kansas C/G Dominick Puni who we had not mentioned in our previous dispatches, but who was solid all week. It was also a pretty good day for FCS RB Dylan Laube who has looked good catching the ball all week and even took a reps with the WRs this morning where he doid not look out of place.

    February 1, 2024 - 12:18 pm

Herd RB Ali out with tendon injury … One of the drawbacks of the all-star games is the potential for injury and it got Marshall RB Rasheen Ali who reportedly suffered a ruptured tendon during yesterday’s workout which will require surgery and sideline him for 4-6 months.

    February 1, 2024 - 12:03 pm

More Senior Bowl updates … Just a quick update to this morning’s earlier update from the Senior Bowl’s morning practice in Mobile. In addition to UCLA’s Laiatu Latu, a umber of other top prospects did not participate in the 11-on-11 reps for the National team including OT Taliese Fuaga and C Jackson Powers-Johnson, two of the better OL prospects this week, as well as DT Michael Hall.

    February 1, 2024 - 11:29 am

WashComs hire Cowboys Quinn as new head coach … Washington has hired Dan Quinn as head coach. Quinn, who had been defensive co-ordinator with Dallas the past few years, had a previous head coaching stint with Atlanta.

    February 1, 2024 - 11:24 am

Senior Bowl updates … Just a couple of quick updates from this morning’s practice session at the Senior Bowl in Mobile. UCLA DE Laiatu Latu, the highest-rated prospect coming into the week, does not appear to be in uniform but instead is on the sidelines with his leg in some sort of sleeve. At the same time, Toledo CB Quinyon Mitchell, who has arguably been the best player on the National team thru the first two days of practice is in uniform but did not partcipate in the one-on-one drills with the WRs.

Good vision. And hes smart. Football savvy. Liked seeing him take a knee in the E/W Shrine game yesterday. He gave up the score to take a knee and let the clock keep rolling. He might have pushed Gore for MVP. Gore another sleeper prospect.

Braden Fiske reminds me of Derek Wolfe coming out. Was maybe a 4th round pick and ends up going in the 2nd. He’s relentless and strong.

He had a good game. I wouldn't mind drafting him.

Been all over Fiske for a while now. Great motor. Relentless. I was shocked when most had him in the 6th-7th range

Although good stuff throughout the week of practice, the game itself didnt pop for anybody...save Emani Bailey RB TCU. Really wanted to see more Ray Davis, RB Kentucky... but never saw him. Missed some plays, internet issues in my area...did he even play?

                    QBs sucked...kinda boring game.
