Would anybody be upset if they kept trading back to the teens or even early 20s and taking JPJ? The way they are structuring this front office and with Harbaugh as HC, seems like a possibility for OL.

Moving all the way from 5 to some where in the twenties requires much higher concessions than a lot of teams can pay for. They really need to interview 5 players and find out who's not a potential headcase one way or another. When they are spitting out really good receivers in this draft we can replace our expensive damaged goods there...

When Bolts interview players, AND do a deep background check, I would make the following a priority:

1. Just say no to any headcases, whiners and slackers, both in college and high school.
2. For wideouts, TE's and RBs, just say no to anyone with butterfingers, both dropitis and fumblitis.
3. Just say no to any defensive player with a repeated history of whiffing on tackles.
4. Just say no to any habitual hotheads, taunters or dudes with repeated penalty issues.
5. Just say no to anyone with repeated injury issues.
6. Just say no to anyone with DV, DUI or any other criminal issues.
7. Just say no to anyone with a history of frequent late-night partying which can lead to a number of related issues, including waking up on game day with a hangover and/or other health issues.
8. Just say no to drafting any Sammy Small School projects, especially in rounds 1-3.

My target for trading back is somewhere up to #11 or so overall, picking up an extra 2nd and 3rd rounder...that way, we still pick up a top-shelf player PLUS picks...

Trading down and getting a Pacific Islander right tackle sounds like a sensible plan to me.

Yep that's exactly right! Our roster is not good right now thanks to TT, we need to trade down if Bowers or Alt don't have exceptional combines and interviews or MHJ falls to 5!

Totally agree that it's unlikely. But if it DID happen...

There are three options: Take him, take a player OTHER than MHJ, or trade down.

To answer this question, *EYE* would need to know the compensation I'd get for the trade.

I remember in 2011, Atlanta giving up a boatload to move up from #27 to #6, to select Julio Jones.

ATL gave up their 1st (#27 overall), 2nd, and 4th round picks in 2011, as well as their 1st rounder in 2012.

If Joe Hortiz can close a deal on a draft day trade that looks anything like this, I'd be a fan.
