If you pick him an he excels - great pick at #5.

If you pick him and you get lesser results - he'll be a reach.

    Pretty simple.

One great rookie or a couple good ones?
      Good questions;
What do our coaches think about the post FA roster? Ans: Don't know.
They may want to use a guy(s) we don't like.

How much does Hortiz value the top non-QB players in the draft?
IMO Never turn our backs on a special player.

Personally I'm good with whatever Hortiz decides.
I can always burn his effigy on a pole in the parking lot if he screws up and the guy he passed on is clearly elite and his guys are not and we miss the playoffs again, just like TT & Staley in '21 & '22..

Define need. We have players at every position. Mostly 2s and 3s.
Starter upgrades? LOL! A top QB, LT, SS would be a needless luxury. Any where else is fair game.
Any way we're just fans playing guessing games.
        After the combine,
After the new leadership gets their thoughts organized.about cap & FA by Mar 13 and we have a team OTA on or about Apr 1 , there should be some useful feedback.
ps: IMO Herbert's WR- TE receivers are a high need. We need speed & reliability to spread and extend coverages.

PON are Center, WR, TE, CB, Edge, DT, OG, and probably LB and safety. I would rank Center as the biggest offensive need over even TE and WR.

Our team absolutely sucked after Mike williams went down. Replacing a premium receiver is a big need if that receiver is a game changer. Also I'm in the Turner/Verse camp for D-end.

Agree. But we aren't getting a OC at #5. TE is next biggest. Can get that with Bowers at 5 or down to 11 and a OC in round 2, it just may not be JPJ.

I dont consider WR a huge need but if we lose Keenan it would be bigger. With or without him, I'm still drafting a WR. Id only consider Nabers at 5 if Keenan won't be here.

Can't wait til we start making roster moves.
              1. Mason Taylor TE LSU

2024 NFL Draft Big Board: Who are the top 100 prospects in this year’s class?

                Dane Brugler Feb 13, 2024

                87

Now that the Kansas City Chiefs have lifted the Lombardi Trophy, all 32 teams are full speed ahead to the 2024 NFL Draft.
This past week, scouting and personnel staffs around the NFL returned to team headquarters for draft meetings and preliminary draft-board discussions. It also was time for me to update my rankings after late-season adjustments and all-star games.
Without specific scheme or culture parameters, piecing together a top-100 draft board is a very generalized exercise. But it gives us a basic look at the ranges in which players are expected to be drafted. The combine, pro days and late information will create fluctuation the closer we get to draft weekend, but most of the hay is in the barn at this point in the process.

Position C CB DT Edge G LB OT QB RB S TE WR
Class Grad. Jr. R-Jr. R-So. R-Sr. Sr. Sr.
                1

                1. Caleb Williams
                Q
                2. Marvin Harrison Jr.
                W
                3. Malik Nabers

                4. Drake Maye
                Q4
                5. Brock Bowers
                6. Joe Alt

                7. Rome Odunze

                8. Jayden Daniels

                9. Olu Fashanu

                10. Terrion Arnold

                11. Quinyon Mitchell

                12. Dallas Turner

                13. JC Latham

                14. Brian Thomas Jr.

                15. Byron Murphy II
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.
                Let’s win one for Mack.

No we sucked when Linsley went down. Couldn't run, protection in the middle sucked.
BTW, Linsley was a 5th round pick so if we miss out on JPJ, I'm ok there. Other pretty good OCs in the draft. Couple good ones in FAcy.

Yes of course our oline sucked but I think that can be fixed with other rounds not the #5 pick. Even with a fixed oline we would still suck without another super quality receiver in the fold.

I don’t know how I feel about drafting TE at #5 also. WR seem to be the better premium position to use at #5. But I prefer trading down as much as possible and still picking up JPJ with a late first instead.

It’ll be interesting to see if anything happens in FA other than cuts, small signings, and maybe one of the big four traded given our cap situation.

Whether 5 or as far as 11 and extra picks,..... as long as we get him. I do not like trading down and down and down passing on the premium guys to have our first pic a OC. Sure good player, but we missing out on some premium players doing that. Could get a OC in round 2 or 3.
