Not sure why that matters as it's not a speed drill. If anything it shows who plays fast but you can see that on tape.

So some who say the combine is a waste of time, there are several elements to see that make you notice different things.

The theory is that guys who slow down have less confidence in their hands.

He's very good... much better than Zach Frazier in my opinion.

If the Chargers get a mid 2nd, and move down to get him ... i wouldn't mind.

Generally, pro days 40s are faster than combine 40s.

Odunze's 4.45 more impressive, along with body control and hands.

can get open at the snap of a finger you keep from having Herbert holding the ball for 6 seconds.
Actually, we should be doing BOTH:

                  1. PROTECT THE FRANCHISE by drafting/signing/coaching up solid players in pass pro.
                  2. RUN THE ROCK to reduce pass rush pressure and keep the LB's and SS's from stacking the box AND to dominate TOP.
                  22 - TE Mason Taylor
                  55 - RB Quinshon Judkins
                  86 - DL Josiah Stewart
                  125 - G Dylan Fairchild

Alt is a consensus Top-10 prospect... and there are plenty of examples of college LT's converting to RT.

Linsley's illness forces a pick @center (probably 2nd round) regardless of who the 1st round pick.
If we're picking an OG in the 4th (your plan) then we're picking two picks in top-150 anyways.
Protect Salyer @RG (with a better RT) and see if he improves with better coaching/scheme.

The OL has to get better. It's kind of strange that people are already giving up on Zion and Salyer.
Meanwhile, Pipkins has had 5 years to get better. He couldn't even beat out Storm Norton (in his 3rd year no less).

Let Pipkins play swing tackle (nothing wrong with depth)... then save yourself some 2025 cap and cut him after 2024. That $6.75m could be better spent in 2025.

That was another Staley head scratching, ill fated decision.

Based on what we saw of Pipkens in week #17 when filling in for Slater,
                    and then them sticking Norton out at RT that final week to be beaten into a fine paste by Max Crosby;
it probably cost the Chargers the playoffs.

Speaking of fast times, there's one guy flying kind of under the radar, because he wasn't able to run the 40 at the combine due to a hammie. His personal best in the 40 is a 4.34:

                      image.png
Fresno State DB Carlton Johnson hit a top GPS speed of 22.17 mph Wednesday, per Zebra Technologies, the highest mark so far at this year’s Senior Bowl and the second-highest since at least 2018 behind only current Seahawks CB Riq Woolen (22.45).Two other players have topped 21 miles per hour this week: Missouri DB Kris Abrams-Draine (21.34) and North Carolina WR Devontez Walker (21.18).

As defensive backs finished their testing on Friday, Fresno State corner Carlton Johnson was not participating. Per the Denver Gazette's Chris Tomasson, Johnson opted not to work out due to a lingering hamstring injury.

Already have two 1st round OL picks. Drafting OL in the first round does not translate into championships. The Chiefs don't have a 1st round pick on their OL. In fact, their weakest link on the OL is the highest drafted (Jawaan Taylor) I think, a high 2nd rnd pick. There is going to some good value in the 2nd and 3rd round at OT in this draft, if they want to replace Pipkins.
Andy Reid has been a head coach for 25 years. His teams have spent two first-round picks on wide receivers (Jeremy Maclin and Freddie Mitchell with the Eagles) and none on tight ends. Reid's teams have spent nine first-round picks on defensive lineman, and traded a first-round pick for pass-rusher Frank Clark. Reid's teams have spent three first-round picks on offensive linemen, including the 2013 first overall pick on offensive tackle Eric Fisher. The Chiefs also traded a first-round pick for offensive tackle Orlando Brown.
