The more I read about the Josh McCown-Drake Maye connection (McCown coached him in high school), the more I believe Maye is the Vikings' target. Now, they may settle for J.J. McCarthy, but I think they will overpay for Maye.

The best thing for us in a trade-down would be this:

    1. Chicago: Caleb Williams
    2. Washington: Jayden Daniels or J.J. McCarthy
    3. New England: Daniels or McCarthy
    4. Arizona: Malik Nabers

I say Nabers for the Cardinals because having Marvin Harrison available at #5 would increase the value of that pick. We could tell Minnesota, "You need to do better than #11 and #23, because we're ecstatic with Harrison, and you know the New York Giants will be thrilled with Maye falling to them."

If Minnesota isn't willing to throw in its 2025 first-round pick along with #11 and #23 this year, get ready to start buying your Marvin Harrison, Jr. jerseys.

At least that's the way I see it.

Arizona needs playmakers, and MH JR. would be a big one at that. It seems like the Cardinals have been giving Kyler Murray so many chances. This could be the point where they determine if they should move on from him. Seeing how he does paired with Marvin Harrison Jr. would give them the evaluation.

Unless the team with Harbaugh does terrible, I don't think we're going to be in a good spot in the draft like this year again. Harrison Jr., Nabers, Bowers, Odunze, whichever one of these guys it is, we'll be getting someone very good.

With Harbaugh as our HC, I find it hard to believe we'll ever have a top 10 pick again during his tenure, and likely much lower than that. Kind of torn between instant playmaker at 5 in one of the WR or trading back a little and take Bowers and getting an extra pick or two.

          Random nuggets...

I keep hearing Brian Thomas jr. was undercovered, and had an easy road to his production. On closer exam, I agree. He is talented, and can take the tops off defenses...but contested catches, and HARD EARNED yac is missing from his tape. Solid 2nd round grade, who could still go in the first, and Im putting AD mitchell as #4.

Really like Ray Davis...great tape to watch.

I dont think Jim is a Homer if he appears to reach for a Michigan player...there is alot of value in picking a player you KNOW is gonna work out...and Jim knows his kids.

Love the new KO rules...look for RBs and WRs with return experience, to pair up with Davis on kickoffs....Ricky Pearsall is a guy that comes to mind...

          Lone Bolt's Final Mock

Tyler Booker G, Josaiah Stewart Edge, Cam Skattebo RB, Mitchell Evans TE, Jamaree Caldwell NT, Isaac TeSlaa WR, Ahmed Hassanein DE, Craig Woodson S, Eli Cox C, Kalel Mullings RB

Sleeper day 3 pick: Tahj Brooks RB Texas Tech

If you're confident that you will have access to drafting Bowers AFTER trading down-- and you picked up some Day 2 draft capital in the process-- how do you *not* make this move?

If things fall in the draft as everyone is expecting them to, no way in hell is the BPA at #5 a defensive player. In fact, I'd say that there's a 98% chance that the BPA at #5 will be Harrison, Nabers, or Odunze.

If you'd take one of those wideouts at #5? You've proven that you aren't rigid about acquiring trench players, first and foremost.

So, yes, I think that drafting Bowers after trading down is a legit possibility. But it's just one of five or six legit possibilities.

Wow I didn’t realize that Arnold had such a bad 40 time. He might actually drop. Kool Aid did better than him in that regard.

NFL scouts, GMs and coaches recently flocked to pro days at schools like Georgia, Michigan and USC. Which 2024 draft prospects stood out?

The Crimson Tide’s most notable Pro Day performer last week was cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry, a potential first-round prospect who didn’t do any testing at the combine earlier in the month. At home in Tuscaloosa, the 5-foot-11, 199-pounder turned in a 4.47 40-yard dash, a 34 1/2-inch vertical and a 10-foot, one-inch broad jump.

Those are solid numbers for McKinstry, who can look slow on tape at times because of how patient he is. Neither he nor teammate Terrion Arnold (who ran a 4.5 40, matching his combine showing) are necessarily going to blow any doors off with their 40 times. However, both players are very well-taught and highly consistent with their techniques.

Notably, Arnold also has done nothing but impress teams on and off the field during draft prep. According to The Athletic’s Dane Brugler, Arnold also ran a scorching 6.65 three-cone time during Alabama’s pro day (97th percentile for his position).

That’s perfect. And in 2 years those picks along with next years FA, Harbaugh-Hortiz would complete the transformation from a soft team into BALT WEST.

I dont think 4.5 is bad (combine time). Kool Aid ran a 4.47, which is about the same. I fingertip diffence i guess.

Hortiz will hopefully "wargame" all contingencies.
