interesting.... no logical reasons for that.... do you dispute all the logic i presented?....... or have you just forgot the impact a truely great TE has?,,,since we have not had one since Gates?

Gates made Floyd and jackson better WR's becausze they faced single coverage.....

KA is a great WR and he was shut down by great CB's....by Chiefs and other teams that beat us...

Most are saying it cant happen just because he is a TE and TE's are undervalued.....BUT extremely highly valued by Harbaugh!!!!

Bowers will not make it [past Jets and likely wont maje it past NYG..... which means Chargers have to take him at 5.... and he is a top 5 talent! ...for last 2 years.... Most experts Mocks had Bowers as a top 5 player in their first mocks after last 2 seasons were over.....ONLY in last month or so have media people starting to elevate others above him.... for ratings and something to do..... Bowers has done nothing to lower his standing.....

Bowers and MHJ did not have to do all of the tests because NFL teams told them there was no reason.... they are both cant miss super stars!

OK, and if the Donkos call…..?

      Hortiz ain’t interested in a fair trade…

Brace yourselves Charger fans, for this pick and for it to be panned as a reach BUT two very smart and tuned in draft gurus Daniel Jeremiah and Trevor Sikkema, in their FINAL mock drafts have assigned JC Latham to the Chargers at FIVE. This isnt the mock they would pick, it is the mock based on what they are hearing from sources and what they thnk is going to happen.

The drumbeat that the Charger are going OL is getting louder. We all assumed Joe Alt but what these guys are saying is that Harbaugh will want a a big mauling power run blocker that is a plug and play RT.

Sikkema also said he doesnt think Vikings will trade up if Patriots take Maye at 3. Taking Latham at 11 was likley fine with everyone but it will take some getting used to taking Latham at 5 while Nabers and Odunze are sitting there.

          Wow

If Harrison is gone, we take Bowers, because he is BPA and will have the greatest impact on the new Chargers offense that will be playing 2 TE's most of the time which means we will have only one WR most of the time and 2 WR's the other times....

If Chargers choose one of these top 3 great WR's, we can only afford to keep them for 4 years!....5 years if we let them walk but a smart organization will trade them after 4th season to get draft compensation..... with a great QB contract, we cannot afford 30-40 million per year for a diva WR..... the top TE salary is far far cheaper!.... so we can keep Bowers for his career like we kept Gates....

great CB's can take away great WR's, but no one can take away a great TE.... DB's are too small and LBers are too slow.....KC proved that by easily beating the 2 best most talented NFL defenses in SF and Balt...... with no great WR's.... yet neither super talented defensive team could stop a great receiving TE when it counted!.... and they won 2 consecutive SB's this way... NE won many the same way!

Great teams are built by controlling the middle of the field:
            • Stuffing the run with great DL and great LBers...
            • OL, running the ball with a power running game...
            • big tough power RB's who break tackles and dont fumble....
            • and a great physical TE who is open quickly when defenses blitze like KC does almost every play.......
            • and tough WR's willing to run over the middle and block on running plays....

We have to win division and beat chiefs to do advance in playoffs......With Bowers, we can BEAT the chiefs.... in regular season and in playoffs....

Walsh was quoted as saying WR's are a dime a dozen.... he, the genius was right!.... the QB, coach and system make the receivers.... there are many talented WR's we never notice because of bad coaching or bad QB play....

and today, only bad teams without a great QB can afford a great WR after the "cheap" rookie contract.....

Only one more day, till we all find out.....

Remember.....there are lots (way more then typical) of great WR depth, great OL depth and great CB depth in this draft...... all of our biggest needs after having a great TE which we had none for years.... and have not had since Gates......

remember too that the final 4 best teams last season, all had the top 4 TE's in the NFL, and NONE of the elite WR's.....

I know so many fans love great WR's due to fantasy reasons and spectacular long plays..... but great TE's open up offenses for average level WR's......

If Chargers take one oif the top 3 WRs or Alt at 5 we will be getting a GREAT player..... Im just saying Bowers is the better "FIT" and the offensive piece we have been missing for over a decade....

Great points, Charge! Further confirmation of my mock: Bowers @#5...

Would Latham @#5 be as much of a reach as the Raiduhs taking Robert Gallery @#2 overall or Alex Leatherwood @#17 overall?

I could debate a lot of what you said, such as the four teams in the conference championship games having a great tight end. The Ravens were playing without Mark Andrews in the seven games before the AFC Championship Game. They went 6-1 in those games, with the one loss coming in Week 18, when they were resting their starters. As good as George Kittle is, he caught a total of eight passes for 112 yards this past postseason. He was held to 2 receptions for four yards in the Super Bowl.

But it's really not about that. I really think once Marvin Harrison is gone the two most likely players Harbaugh and Hortiz will pick at #5 are Alt and Odunze.

Heard a lot of names to the Chargers at 5
                  but not Brock Bowers

now hearing Latham at 5 -- based on sources
                  Nobody tells the truth.

I still don't see Latham the pick at 5

Sikkema is an idiot. He knows nothing and has zero actual contacts.
Jeremiah might know something but this is just them trying to read tea leaves.
This has been going on for 2 months now, starting with Alt.

Much bigger reach than Gallery. Gallery was a top rated guy, he just busted. Latherwood was a reach for sure at 17, but this is a TOP 5 pick with Nabers, Odunze, Alt, Bowers sitting there.

I don't, either. I don't really pay attention because there's always a ton of silly talk the day before the draft.

Going to have to disagree with you and not sure what your platform is have the credibility to call Sikkema an idiot. He is a riser doing very well for himself in the football industry who watches a ton of film and attend the bowl games and college workouts. I enjoy his takes and find the Stock Exchange informative and entertaining. I think Trevor Sikkema knows more than you to be frank

Is Jeremiah an idiot? Because he has scouted for an NFL team , works for NFL as their premier draft anaylyst and knows people in the Charger building obviously.
