That may be a bit rich but I like where youโre going. Thereโs a small cluster of teams shortly after us that need QBs - do they really want to suffer another season of misery by not going up to get him?Justin Herbert is Elite. Ride or Die ...โ

It's definitely a huge concern when you hear or read that he was medically retired because of a neck injury. It will definitely be addressed over the next few months leading up to the draft.Originally posted by sequoia2075 View Post
I love Latu but this is such an important pick for this franchise.. Drafting a dude #5 overall who was medically retired at one point absolutely scares the crap out of meLast edited by DerwinBosa; 01-10-2024, 09:17 PM.

True...I'd rather pick someone with med concerns like that in round 2 or later...too much riding on this draft, especially if we can trade down for multiple picks...Originally posted by sequoia2075 View Post

I like the thought process for sure. I truly think it needs to be a total overpayOriginally posted by Topcat View Post
Yep...let's play hardball...if I'm trading down from #5 to #8-10 or so, I want:
1. Next year's Round 1 pick
2. This year's Round 2 pick
3. Ask for this year's Round 3 pick, but settle for a 4th rounder
4. Throw in next year's Round 4 pick and you've got a deal!
5. All this in addition to this year's #8-10 overall, of course...
("Oh, hold on, the phone's ringing on line 8...")
Cha-CHING!
I would be happy with the 8th pick plus a 2nd and 4th this year and settle for a 2025 3rd but start with a 1st and go to a 2nd maybe settle for a 3rd. Especially if three QBs go in the first three picks and MHJr goes 4th

This is a very strong scenario. I believe there is no way that Zona passes on MH Jr. at 4. And I can see Williams, Maye and Daniels going 1, 2, 3 just as easy.Originally posted by Bolt4Knob View Post

So say that does happen that the first 4 picks are the three QBs plus MHJr - Chargers are at 5 - a team trades up for possibly QB at 5 - that would leave Bowers, Nabers and your OT. I think the Titans might be going OT as their OL was terrible last year. Granted, nothing is a given. But if the rest of the WRs like Coleman, Nabers, Odunze are pretty close in value -- its a good risk to take if you can totally get some team to overpay for 3 draft slotsOriginally posted by La Costa Boy View Post

I love Bowers - maybe my favorite player in the draft. But if you can get two other players to have 6 picks in the top 110ish range - -has to be considered.

For everyone who thinks trading back is so great. You are either looking at anecdotal evidence from a handful of teams, do not understand math and percentages, or both.
Why anyone thinks it is better to give up better odds to get a handful of worse odds is crazy to me.
The numbers show us the following outline for finding consistent starters:
1st Round - OL (83%) LB (70%) TE (67%) DB (64%) QB (63%) WR (58%) RB (58%) DL (58%)
2nd Round - OL (70%) LB (55%) TE (50%) WR (49%) DB (46%) QB (27%) DL (26%) RB (25%)
3rd Round - OL (40%) TE (39%) LB (34%) DL (27%) WR (25%) DB (24%) QB (17%) RB (16%)
4th Round - DL (37%) TE (33%) OL (29%) LB (16%) WR(12%) DB (11%) RB (11%) QB (8%)
5th Round - TE (32%) DB (17%) WR (16%) OL (16%) DL (13%) RB (9%) LB (4%) QB (0%)
6th Round - TE (26%) OL (16%) DL (13%) WR (9%) DB (8%) RB (6%) LB (5%) QB (0%)
7th Round - DB (11%) OL (9%) QB (6%) WR (5%) DL (3%) LB (2%) RB (0%) TE (0%)

Now compare the 5th pick to the 8th pickOriginally posted by BigBad View PostFor everyone who thinks trading back is so great. You are either looking at anecdotal evidence from a handful of teams, do not understand math and percentages, or both.

I am not trading out of the top 10 for sure and really 8 seems fine with me.
Plus the Chargers need a lot. If they stay at 5 and get Bowers or even Nabers or Alt - thats fine. But depending on what happens that day, they shuold be prepared.

Those numbers are generalizations for an entire round. A player picked 1st and a player picked 32nd are both first round picks, but are projected very differently. I'm also not sure that people we say trade down mean trade the 5th pick for several second round picks. If you went from 5 to 10, you still get a high pick plus several other picks that have a chance to help.Originally posted by BigBad View PostFor everyone who thinks trading back is so great. The lowest I have seen a person suggest is like 12 to the Vikings. I personally would sitll want top 10 -12 is even too low. That for sure would have to be a 2025 FRP along with 2/3 this year.

If three QBs are taken before we draft trading down to #8 is very doable. We can get one of the above or Fashanu, a top WR or even the CB we need, plus some extraOriginally posted by Bolt4Knob View Post

draft capital, could be a 2nd rounder or early 3rd. Strong possibility there.
