You don't draft Bowers to block.
You draft him to throw it to him.
But you won't have time if the RT, OC struggle.
And the competition is better, so running over guys in NFL isn't quite as easy. He has good straight speed. His agility is avg. I don't see scrips route or shake people so those contest jump catches could put him on IR. He would do well in Andy Reid type play calling for easy catches and with backyard option routes to green grass. So he can run in space.

I wonder how Joe Hortiz and Harbaugh view roster construction. Draft day will be excellent.

But to answer your question at the beginning of your post, I think Penei Sewell at right tackle has been quite "transformative" for the Lions. I'm not saying Joe Alt is Penei Sewell, nor am I saying Brock Bowers is Travis Kelce, whose 133 yards on nine receptions did nothing for the Chiefs in their embarrassing 31-9 Super Bowl loss to the Buccaneers, when Patrick Mahomes was running for his life the entire game during by far the worst performance of his career--because he had no protection.
This is the reason to draft Alt. And also be willing to move Slater if it's the best 5OL. The coaches can figure it out.

KC dumped Hill that off season I believe and then heavily invested in OL and won another SB. If my memory correct.

Serious question. Do you understand that the KC line is not good and really hasn't been for Mahomes' entire career?

All the Burrow lovers don't realize Burrow takes sacks because his mobility is GARBAGE. They just look at sacks and not pressure to sack which is more telling. They cry about their line when Mahomes and Herbert have been pressured more! The difference is Burrow has ELITE weapons. Mahomes has Ried and Kelce. Herbert has had slow Keenan and Mike who never play together and garbage play calling.

In the era of "CANT HIT THE QB" Mobility is WAY MORE important than the image of some perfect o-line. If the perfect o-line creates champions then the Lions would have cakewalked to a Super Bowl. Goff is bad off script.

We have 1 of the 3 ELITE off-script QBs. Herbert, Mahomes, Allen.

        Herbert
        28%
        19%

        Mahomes

Slater, who has proven himself as a top 5 left tackle in the NFL, is not going to accept a move to right tackle just before he is due to sign a massive contract for left tackle compensation, and earn less as a right tackle for the rest of his career.

And whose to say Alt can step in and be an all pro left tackle right away like Slater did.

The only way I am interested in o line in the first round, is to trade down to a slot where you can draft Fuaga, the best natural right tackle in the draft. Not into using a top 5 pick on a right tackle. This draft is stacked with tackles. Has to be a trade down for me for extra picks to give up Bowers or Nabers

They are drafting at 7 and don't need a QB anymore...they could do a multitude of things, TE, WR, OT...yeah, if the chargers want Bowers to pair up with Herbert, they need to stay put and just draft the kid at 5...they are already going to pick 2-3 extra picks in this draft from a couple of trades and also from the compensatory pick they are getting for tranquil...if they don't trade down in the 1st they are still going to have 9 or 10 picks in the 2024 draft anyways...much will depend on what they do before the draft before we can have a better idea of what they will be looking for in the draft...

I agree, Everett is a free agent so he's going regardless, parham is still signed for 2024, I can see them going with parham and smart as TEs 3 and 4 respectively...that means two TEs are needed to fill out the roster...Parham is injury prone so he might be on his way out too, IDK

TE is definitely one of the biggest areas of need on the chargers...

Fugal is a beast! I wouldn't hate that but they better get a crap ton of draft capital to give up the chance to draft guys like nabers and bowers...

I agree, nobody is going to claim that travis kelce is a great blocker, he gets thrown around too, but he's still probably the best TE to ever play in the NFL...

Kelce was 6'4.5" and 257 at the combine.
Bowers is listed at 6'4(could come in lower) and 240.

                      Just saying.

Kelce didn't run 4.48 in college though. Bowers did
