Safe prospect/good floor are not words you want to hear for a top 5 pick. Aaron Curry was considered one of the safest picks in the draft in 2009 and nobody thought he would bust. He busted (and not even because of injuries).
There is no such thing as a safe prospect, and no such thing as wont bust.
For any player we draft at #5 if we only get their floor, the pick will be automatically be a bust.

We need an impact player at an impact position. TE isn't it at #5.

He can be a dominant player in the NFL. Granted, usually with top picks its QB, Edge and LT. Chargers have LT and QB, Edge isn't the right value. Bowers would be a very solid pick at 5. Nabers could bust; MHJr could bust.

If the pick at 5 gets a second contract at market value - no matter the player or position - that will be the standard.

If edge isn't the value at 5 to grab the best pass rusher in a given class, TE sure as heck isn't. I'd be fine with trade down and take Bowers, but not at 5.
Personal preference is trade down to around 10, take best WR, Edge or CB.

Jesus Christ no one is calling Bowers a HoF player. Stop with the drama or take it somewhere else.

But I would like a better player or players even more. Right now, all things equal - trading to 8 and getting a 3/4 in 2024 and another pick in 2025 wouldn't be the worst thing. Might even still get him at 8

I agree, as much as I like Bowers, if good opportunity for picks to trade down comes up, it is wise to take it. This team has many needs.

I meant he has a high floor, think Kittle. I didnt say he doesnt have a celing.

10 games. 13 games. You are correct. But shouldn't that favor Kelce for being available. That is one of the best abilities.
I was talking about production of touches. They featured Bowers and gave him plenty of scheme open plays. The stat shows the yards gain on those touches and TDs scored. Kelce was a bit more productive on his touches final college season.
1 inch and 20 pounds isn't that big of a deal. No, but it sure helps. Bowers straight speed is better than Kelce. He should time well in 40 for TE. I'm not so sure his lateral agility is better than Kelce.

I just don't see top 5 pick.
Trade down to pick #14 and take Bowers would seem like a better use of draft picks. I think he could be there. I don't think NFL GMs and HCs are as sold as fans and pundits are. But we shall see how awful my take is. And for me it's not about where he gets pick. It's about how great he becomes in NFL..
I really like Fred Warner in his draft. When he was drafted Rd 3, I thought I overrated him as a top 50 player. But as the years went by, I had actually underrated him. Hindsight he was a top 25 player in that draft

I think Gray and Wilson the LBs of UNC and NC State are top 75 players. They may end up the two best LBs in the draft down the road. At least that is what I see when I watch tape.
Worth drafting and potential to be best LBs in the draft. But currently are not at top of the LB list that I'm seeing from all the news out there.

Bowers as a freshman had as much production than Kelces whole college career. Kelce has 59 college receptions and Bowers had 175 and over 2500 yards.

The high ankle sprain was his only injury, three times the production.
I don't know what Bowers will run and don't care.

He may run a 4.5, IDK.....I hope he runs a 4.6 or 4.65 so teams won't be more amped up to draft him. He plays fast is why he looks fast.

Everyone said the same thing about Kincaid. Listed 240, weighed in at 246 and listed as such in Buffalos website. Great hands, not as good a blocker as Bowers.

Also want to add, Hockenson was a first round picks. It s also about scheme.

Since Hockenson left Detroit he has flourished in Minnesota. Before he got hurt he led all TEs in receptions last season. Idk why the Lions didn't use him as much but he is working out for the Vikes.

I don't think Johnson was the OC when he was in Detroit.

You are comparing apples to oranges. There is no TE in this class remotely close to Bowers.

Last year was the best and deepest TE class in 10 years, so it is far more possible and logicol the 2nd drafted TE had a better season than the fist drafted TE. Kincaid will still be a stud and wont always have a good TE in Knox to share snaps with. LaPorta had no one.

As good as last years TE class was, Bowers would have been drafted well ahead of any of them, he looked NFL ready as a freshman.

Id have picked Bowers first last year as well.. ..over Kincaid who I wanted us to draft at 21 last year. But why keep arguing about it?

Obviously I'd like to be able to trade down a little , get a Pick or two and still get Bowers. We'll see.
