Hurst is only on a 1 year deal because Hortiz has a soft spot in his heart and wanted to allow the Carolina Panthers to pick up $9,800,000 of Hurst contract. That’s the only reason Hurst is on a 1 year deal.

They signed him because he is one of the blocking TE in football, not for his pass catching. Here is what our TE coach says about him:

“You’re talking about one of the three guys in the league that can own the C-gap, period,” Bischoff raved. “There’s not many of them. This is a different kind of football league we live in now, and to have a tight end that can own the C-gap is rare. He’s one of those guys.”

Some if not many of the players on one year deals may be candidates to re-up, depending on how they do, and how the Chargers do.
We do not play modern football.

I agree. My two most likely candidates are Hayden Hurst and Bradley Bozeman. Both of them produced for Baltimore in their system. Neither should command top dollar... even if they produce well for the Chargers in 2024.

Yep. This is how we build our roster, with so many needs. Additionally, late round value picks are on the plate. I know you are looking hard Nutty. I am too. Of course, Joe's gotta have his future comp picks.

So many needs! The WR/TE lust is high on TPB. They say Plumpkins is functional nd not a need. They say the WR's and TE's are trash But I will list these players and you tell me which is a bigger need...

                WR Joshua Palmer
                WR Quentin Johnson (used correctly)
                TE Hayden Hurst
                TE Will Dissley
                RT Trey Pipkins
                DT Tito Ogbonia
                NB Ja'Sir Taylor
                LB Daiyan Henley

It's really not even close. The TE's and WR's are much better than the RT, DT, NB, and LB.

He first has to use himself correctly? Skillset is questionable.

Skillset is fine... watch the TCU tape. Moore's usage of him last year was questionable.
