Fergusson might be a better fit. Looks like he's projected 3rd round.
Giddens could last until the 4th round. He would be good value in the 4th round. I also like Devin Neal in the 4th round.
I could see us reserving rounds 3 and 4 for RB and TE.

It would certainly free up 1st and 2nd rounds for Edge/IDL or IOL. There are a lot of different options. Glad we have Hortiz.
I'm glad we have Harbaugh and Minter, too.
Giddens or Neal in 4th sounds about perfect.

Not that he is my preference but one RB that seems to be rising and might go a little higher than first thought is Trevor Etienne, though 5th seems better

I get this thinking, I just wonder if its too trapped in a false paradigm? We have two in-line TEs on the roster, not counting the other JAGs that are not receivers but also in-line. why not diversify the options instead of adding another of the same? (I’m talking to Gro now )

You never know,..... if its true we tried to sign Engram. They are built the same and Engram is in the slot and out often. We dont need him there. Fannin was 241 lbs at the combine. Just think Ferguson is a more traditional type and he can run and be more inline. Taller, can add a little to his 247 lbs.
He actually ran faster than Fannin did (4.63) to (4.71)

I agree with your thoughts on TE but just not sure if Fannin is the fit. I would rather they take a TE later than force a pick. I have no idea personally if they like Fannin or not. My initial though is he is not a fit but again who knows...lol

Kinda surprised at Fannins time I thought he would be a bit faster. Maybe his game speed is faster.

For 2nd tier TEs: I started the off-season a big Fannin fan. I’d rather have Taylor today. Still would welcome Fannin though. Ferguson is interesting too. I’m not as sold on Arroyo as some here, which means nothing really. If JH2&Crew do their research and want Arroyo, I’d believe them.

Even Helm looks better than when I first looked at him, though he seems like a Rd4 type value to me and not a lot different than Conk and Diss.

Sure am curious what the Conk signing means to their draft planning …

Me too. His other combine work didn’t really pop much either. Wonder if that ol competitive level thing was more than I gave credence to. Taylor played SEC … can’t argue it with him. Loveland and Warren were B1G … gotta respect it.

*With a draft like this is the only way I would be okay with resigning Keenan Allen. lol.

They met with Loveland and are one of only 6 teams holding a private workout for Warren, so I think getting a high level TE for the future is still very much on their radar.

What got me thinking about this was the fact they visited with Donovan Ezeiruaku the other day.
His combine measures are 6'2.5" and 248 lbs. The most interesting measure was his 34" arms.
Then I looked at Khalil Mack's combine measures... 6'3" and 251 lbs. 33.25" arms.

Hmmmmmmm...... I really like Ezeiruaku's tape.
Athleticism and production. There’s a lot to like there.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.
                      Let’s win one for Mack.

Ez is adept at using his long arms and technique to defeat blocks. Good bend too.
                        We play modern Harball.

By no means am I pushing for Fanin Jr. And I agree, he doesn't seem to fit. But....
He did lead the nation in receptions (117) and receiving yards (1555). More than Warren... more than T-Mac.
Even though he accomplished that against lesser competition... he also had good games vs Penn St (11/137/1) and Texas A&M (8/145/1).

Here are some things he brings to our specific scheme...
                          1. He consistently makes tough catches in the seam. He plays fast. Bowling Green ran a lot of play-action (fits us). For that fraction of second that LB's and safeties are reading run... Fanin is by them and exploiting the space that play-action provides. His awareness of field space is very good.
                          2. He might be a really good receiving option in 12-personnel. Often we only have 2 WR's on the field... kind of limits our receiving options. If you move him out into the slot... you're probably taking a LB or safety out of the box. It could actually make it easier to run... without even using him as a blocker.
                          3. The other thing Bowling Green did with him was line him up close to a tackle and use him on TE screens... as a blitz buster. His YAC in those instances was very impressive. We yearn for a screen game... yet don't use our RB's often because we either like to play-action or pass protect with a RB. He was pretty effective during the Senior Bowl on quick outside hitters. Moves through traffic/space very well.

He was a 0-Star prospect out of high school... walked on with Bowling Green. I believe he was a CB/LB in high school. To be the leading receiver in college 4 years later is an amazing feat. Again, I'm not pushing one way or another. But I can see a role for him here... even if he doesn't seem to fit.
