Loveland is our highest probability pick IMO. Henderson in the 2nd is a dream pick. That just completely changes the upside on our O. I don’t know if there is another 1-2 player combo in the draft that would improve the team ‘s final record this year more than those two.

5 linemen, nice, Pegues and Kandra late, nice.

There’s a lot to like there
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.
    Let’s win one for Mack.

As much as I'd love those first 2 picks, I have a hard time believing they won't draft a DT or edge rusher with at least one of our first 2 picks - and if Grant is there I'd be surprised if we don't pick him at 22.

The Athletic has us trading up to 17 for Will Johnson in their latest mock:

        17. *Los Angeles Chargers (via Bengals): Will Johnson, CB, Michigan

        (Projected trade: Chargers acquire No. 17 and a 2026 fourth-rounder from Bengals for Nos. 22, 125, 214 and a 2026 third-rounder)

Jim Harbaugh trading up for a different Michigan man (Loveland) would be the ideal use of the Chargers’ draft capital (10 s********s). The pivot turns to cornerback — and jumping the Buccaneers at No. 19 — after losing Kristian Fulton in free agency, and Asante Samuel Jr. remains unsigned. Johnson’s impressive 6-2 size, playmaking and familiarity with the Chargers’ coaching staff make for a smooth transition.
Not a fan of trading up.

At this point, I'm not a fan of trading up for anyone.

There are like 8 players who I think have a decent chance at being legit studs and at least 1 or 2 will fall to us.

I love Warren, but I'm not a 3rd rounder sure he will be better than what we can get at 22 as is.

Players I think could be legit multi-time pro bowlers available at 22:

            (In no order)
            Loveland
            McMillan
            Green
            Pearce
            Nolen
            Grant
            Johnson
            Barron

I'm not counting Hampton just because I'm not drafting a non Jeanty RB in round one in this deep of a class.

I like Warren the best out of all those players, but I'm not confident he'll be the best. Any one of them could be the best player in the group. I'm even less confident that Warren will be better than whichever player in that group we take plus our 3rd round pick.

Stud TEs are huge difference makers, but it's often times not the first rounders who become them. Average TEs are a dime a dozen and aren't that impactful. Those other guys, if they hit the 75th percentile at their position group (except Loveland, who is also a TE) are still extremely valuable pieces. If Warren is the 10th best TE in the NFL, we can find that for cheap in FA.

Who says we don’t load up on defensive this year… we got smoked in Playoffs and even though we believe Herbert can destroy everyone…his PO performance has been terrible in comparison to the clutch QBs.
i was at the Jacksonville PO feeling great at halftime due to the amazing performance of our defense. Then all we needed was a few few First downs.

Herbert is great, but not the guy that would be MVP in PO.

this year is about building great defense and Running game. Herbert will be a game manager

Id trade a 4th to move up for Warren, if he fell far enough

A 5th for a few spots to secure anybody they really wanted...I would trust they did the right thing. Example: Tmac, Loveland, Grant, choice Edge.

I have no idea how far those picks get us...just saying...

Remember the impact of Winslow and Gates. The crap we’ve had at TE since Gates retired is malpractice.

Conklin and Loveland would elevate this offense like nothing else over last year.
We now have a pass catching TE. We have higher needs now.

With us bring back Mack, I could see us going edge for him to mentor. If he plays as well as last year he could come back next year. We need someone to fill what Bosa was supposed to do.

Point of fact...we have everything...the whole point of Hortiz's off season moves...we have starters everywhere...and will likely upgrade with the best player available...within reason....I have my positions I would prefer we address high...Im sure you do too...doesnt mean anything, though...lol. Very few positions are fully off the table at 22, IMO.

Proud and happy as I was with our NFL #1 scoring defense, our run D needs to improve. We were average and let our NT, Poona go.Grant would be dynamite at 22 IMO.

Last year, Conklin. Not by very much. 2 years ago, Engram had 100+ receptions. When he's healthy, Engram is better.
But that is the big point... Conklin has missed very few games. Engram has an injury history.
I like that they brought in Conklin... I liked him way back in college. But he is quality depth. I like depth, too!

But just because we have Conklin... doesn't mean we wouldn't take Colston (if he's even there @#22).
Hortiz will take BPA @TE/RB/WR/DE @#22. Some suggest CB or IOL might be BPA @#22.
If Hortiz thinks CB or IOL is BPA... he'll take him.
