Darien Porter is a track guy who only cracked the Iowa State starting line up his 5th season. He was mostly a special teams guy there.

His 3 cone (6.71 s) and shuttle (4.01 s) were not great, but very good ..... he very well might be available at the Chargers 2nd round pick.

The positives are obvious, here are Zierlen's weaknesses on the guy

    Weaknesses
    • Made first start at cornerback in his sixth season in 2024.
    • Limited man-cover reps on tape to evaluate.
    • Takes time gathering and adjusting to more complex routes.
    • Below-average play strength to discard run blocks.
    • Quite a bit to clean up with tackling and contain in run support.
    • Inconsistent coming to balance as a tackler as a punt gunner.

Draft rooms will argue about the guy for much of day 2, as long as he's available.

Chargers pick in round 1 cluster.... Booker, Membou, Warren, Loveland, McMillan or Golden.
Good cluster. I can’t imagine McMillian dropping even halfway to 22 though. I’m sending Jeanty and Hampton over to your club, hope your bouncers don’t kick them.

Golden + Ladd … mmm mmm good.

Mock of the day. I count 11 OL that I’d draft pick 55 and earlier. If you don’t take one at 22, you risk all 11 being taken before 55. So I feel that we almost have to take one at 22 to guarantee that we have a new talented starter this year. The skill positions always seem to be there in the 3rd and 4th. Doubling up on OL in our first two picks depends on how we do in FA and draft availability.

Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.
        Let’s win one for Mack.

That’s why they need to address 2 of the 3 interior o line before they even go into the draft. They can’t be forced to draft at one position. It’s a recipe for disaster. Other teams will have you over a barrel.

That’s easier said than done, especially if we sit out the early, expensive part of FA. And I don’t want to be signing Feeney types in FA either. Guys you hope can play better but never do.

I also think all that cap space is going to be used up quicker than many expect.

In your opinion what is the biggest, most glaring hole on the team?
              Or
What was the #1 reason the Chargers lost to the Texans?

The offense sucked. With better skill players, maybe Herbert could overcome a bad IOL. With a better IOL, maybe Herbert could overcome the lack of skill players. I feel skill players can be found easier than OL, so I build the OL first.

On what players? Unless they keep Bosa -- How much will really be used to sign their own players

I like the above draft though -- granted, I do think they have to fill at least one IOL in free agency.

Out of those 11, how many are OTs?

Membou might be an OT that doesn't transition well.
I like him as an OT and expect that he will be gone by #22,
but I'd be fine with the choice.

Membou gone, Booker gone .... Donovan Jackson? Zabel? Wyatt Milum?

It's a definite drop off and any choice would be a big reach at #22.
Some team will likely take someone who ends up better in rounds 3 or 4.

We have half of a team to sign with quality players. There never enough money to sign everyone you want, especially with an expensive QB.

The interior O line sucked. HOU found their weakness and they took advantage of it.
Because of this glaring weakness the rest of the offense was abysmal.
Teams now can just use that tape to destroy the Chargers.
So to go into the draft without addressing the interior o line would kinda be suicidal cause now teams know without a shadow of a doubt that this is our Achilles heel and must be addressed immediately. Teams are just going to jump us for the 1st 2 rounds knowing the player they want will obviously be drafted by the Chargers.
You said it yourself, you’ve got to get them or you risk not getting any after pick 55. The FO cannot go into the draft handcuffed for need. They will have addressed all the glaring weaknesses in FA. I see a guard and a c or 2 guards being signed prior to the draft.

You know what else sucks that teams can see from the HOU tape? WR is a glaring weakness.
After McConkey who had the most receptions from Herbert? Stingley and Dissly tied for 2…
                        That’s atrocious..

Harbaugh would play with all OTs, so I would expect an OT to OG conversion this year.

My draft list for 1st two rounds for OL.
