Arroyo's skills are readily apparent even to me.

I like him more than Loveland as a receiver.

Arroy is the most Winslowesque tight end that I've seen.
So, why so few catches and somewhat low production this year?

Here are some negatives I got from the Arrowhead addict site:

      Negatives
      • A one-year wonder with only 11 catches in three seasons before Cam Ward came and inflated his production.
      • Below-average blocker who may take a few years in the pros to improve, can get overwhelmed at the point of attack due to subpar play strength.
      • Comes with medical red flags due to injury concerns in the past few seasons. Small sample size, especially against top-tier competition, as a result.

Arroyo was a complete afterthought before this season due to his injuries and plain old ineffective play, leading some to wonder if his uptick in production was a product of playing alongside possible No. 1 pick Cam Ward.

Arroyo is never going to be a very good blocker, which could make it tough for a team to put him in a traditional in-line role. Any OC who picks him will need to work around that deficiency, which is a ton of work for a player who may be a Day 2 rookie.

I cant recall the last time ive even seen 2 TEs go in the first….then again i havent researched it!! I think TEs are kind of downgraded like guards and centers and even rbs nowadays. Seems like qb/de/LT/CB and WR are the top 1st round positions of choice that go in the first. I just think with the studs on the DT side this year if we are to see a run on a position its likely there and we could see some positions slip. I just cant see an Arroyo type with a limited track record slipping in…i think other positions will force the other TEs down the board which id be fine with so we can go lineman in 1.

Hoping for FA work to shore up a decent TE like Juwan Johnson from NO that gives us flexibility and he wont break the bank but definitely improves that rooms roster.

Overall our FA signings are going to give us at least a glimpse of what to expect. Although Chef will be looking for bargain post draft 1 year football dudes to round things out like last year…then wont stop once cuts start.

Grant, Loveland and Ekbuka is a good problem to have. I see three guys starting on opening day. Gotta see Joe’s pre-draft FA moves … If they sign Ford AND Tart, I’d bet against Grant. If they sign two WRs, I’d bet against Egbula. Etc. What is he doing at Edge pre-draft? Joey decision has to be made mid March. BPA is a noble aspiration but Jim wants to win games THIS September.

Hmmm...that may push Arroyo to that early round 1 run along with Warren and Loveland...quite possible...

It was the 2019 NFL Draft. T.J. Hockenson went eighth overall to the Lions, and Noah Fant went 20th to the Broncos. Although they're pretty good tight ends, neither made it to a second contract with the teams that drafted them. The 2017 NFL Draft had three tight ends go in the first round: O.J. Howard 19th overall to the Buccaneers, Evan Engram 23rd overall to the Giants, and David Njoku 29th overall to the Browns. Njoku is still with the Browns. Engram failed with the Giants but has played pretty well in Jacksonville. Howard was OK for a few years in Tampa Bay but last played with the Texans in 2022.

Personally, it's hard for me to get excited about this year's first round. Ironically, this April's draft may have a first round as bad as 2015's. We drafted Melvin Gordon in the first round ten years ago, which actually wasn't that bad of a pick considering the rest of the players who went in the first 32 selections. I don't think there's anyone close to a Hall of Famer in that group. That could be the case in this April's first round, although I really do like Cam Ward and Abdul Carter. That's why I'm hoping we can trade back, but today I heard an analyst say there are only 12 prospects considered first-round talents, so I think it's highly unlikely that a team will contact us to move up. Perhaps if Shedeur Sanders falls, or a team falls in love with Jaxson Dart and wants to trade up with us to get him.

Yeah but...uh, he gets good separation and blew it up in the Senior Bowl...he was pretty much uncoverable...

I remember when pre-combine and combine when everyone was falling in love with TE Darrnell Washington, talking him up etc.

after that Pit drafted him and he ended up being a backup TE. Other than Bowers, great TE's are very tricky to draft!

Odds are stacked against "generational" TE's being drafted and story ends well. Laws of probability says a significant chance Bowers doesn't have a long prosperous career.

That said I wish him the best.

Yep, he was raised to a first here too lol. He hasnt done much at all in Pittsburgh playing Dissleys role there, which is what he was meant for. He has 26 career receptions.
Those highlight videos dont tell you the whole picture and Arroyo only has those because he only had one productive season and that was only 35 receptions.

I do like him but rounds 3-4 and he is a development type. He isnt going to start.
