All-American defensive tackle Ed Oliver's playing days at Houston are over. The junior tweeted Friday that he is skipping Houston's bowl game to begin preparing for the NFL draft.
And so it begins. If you're a top draft pick, its crazy to play in a bowl game. Your stock can only go down. Or you can get hurt. Seriously, what's in it for the player?

Whenever you preform well in a bowl game and ghe playoffs it can really help u climb up the board. But sitting out on Houstons team isnt a deal breaker. Ed would have dominated. Wouldnt have moved his needle. But guys like deandrea baker can shoot uo to the top 10 instead of top 20 if he balla out the bowl game and they get into the playoffs
Back in the 80s I used to hate drafting players from those great Nebraska teams. To me, they were so well coached that they were at the top of their game. No upside left for them in the pros. And many of them did not excel as a pro. So when I see a guy who wins his battles in college without being perfect, I see upside. And I like to draft players with upside.

For the Chargers, offensive tackle Joe Barksdale has not lived up to expectations over the past few years and seems to have faded into a reserve role on the roster. This season Barksdale has only played on 21 percent of the offensive snaps as former 7th round pick Sam Tevi has seen more time as a starter. Los Angeles can avoid a $6.3 Million hit against the cap if they release Barksdale before next season.
i continue to make my case for going OT in the 1st. 6.3 million would pay a lot of the signing bonus for our new OT.

Lyndell is one of my favorite prospects this year. He has my highest LB grade in the past 4 years. If he comes out & slips to us, I would run to the podium.
Kyzir and Mack would be a BEASTLY pair as our offball LBs. Please let offenses run shallow crosses. I beg them! Some DL talent influx and a coverage FS that can tackle. If this happens we may not give up 10 PPG in 2019 and beyond.

Corey, Jahleel, TB, Barks are/should be on the trade/cut/restructure table. Their salaries are not consistent with their play.
In my view we should be looking to add/upgrade DT and FS in FA. There should be some quality ascending players available.
We have several players that will hit the FA market and decisions will be made their.
Draft will be fun. It is deep at several positions that we need to upgrade/need depth added.
