Adderley brings up the obvious...level of competition. He would be subject to on the job training. Decisions must be made very fast. I believe this is partly why TT does not draft FSs. I have concerns about durability with Adderley. Also I do not like that the Delawar Blue Hens copied the Michigan Wolverines helmets. Admittedly, this is a small point, but I am looking for a squeaky clean prospect @ 28.

CGJ has the highest upside IMV.
    But there's that damn inconsistency.

    Abrams SS only IMV.
I also have some serious concerns about Adderley's durability...first he injured an ankle before the combine...then he pulled a hammy during his pro day...hmmmm...we don't need a Verrett 2.0...

          "FINAL" mock (probably)

          28) JUAN THORNHILL (FS) UVA

          thornhill 2.jfif

SR. 6', 205#, 8 3/4'' HANDS, 31 1/8'' ARMS, 40YD - 4.42, 10YS - , VJ - 44'', BJ - 141'', 3CONE - , 20S - , 60S - . Juan is a naturally gifted, instinctual, fast, explosive, ballhawk that has CB skills and is relentless. He has great feet, excellent flexibility, loose hips, natural movement skills, uncanny ball separation skills, makes BIG plays in BIG games, played all DB positions (CB/FS/SS), HUGE production - 13 INTs/26 PBUs/208 tackles, tremendous mirror skills, overaggressive at times/susceptible to double moves, eyes always have him near the ball, sees and goes on run fills, takes excellent angles, solid wrap up tackler but not a thumper, hand strikes in press are accurate/forceful, disrupts routes at LOS, can be a half tick off as high safety but has the physical tools so can still make the range - very coachable and will speed up with reps at position. Juan's value as a backend chess piece and our FS is an ideal fit. His range as our FS is from far hash 2 sideline , can cover any WR/RB/TE M2M, coverage disguise/flexibility, enhance Derwin's impact, eliminate explosive plays, and generate TOs. IMPACT STARTER w/ELITE TRAITS

WHY? MONSTER talent, big PON, skillset will make the entire defense better, my #10 prospect

          60) RENELL WREN (DT) ASU

          wren.jfif

RSR. 6' 4 1/2'', 318#, 10'' HANDS, 33 7/8'' ARMS, 81'' WINGSPAN, 40YD - 5. 1, 10YS - 1.75, VJ - 32'', BJ - 9' 10'', 30 REPS @ 225, 3CONE - 7.65, 20S - 4.53. Big physical explosive beast! Played NT at ASU but fits best as a 3tech and passing situation NT. Very stout against run, + body control thru contact, excellent pad level play, exceptionally strong (still can get stronger), Ideal frame/length/upfield explosion, can be a true backfield disruptor, resets LOS, active hands, hand placements/techniques are non existent -real area of opportunity here, attack plans need to be developed. Renell has the whole package and upside to be a dominant probowl caliber player. Are his work ethic, coachability, and football IQ up to it? I believe so! STARTING CALIBER PROSPECT w/IMPACT TRAITS.

Why? We only have 3 DT on the roster currently. Ascending talent at huge PON, ideal size, move to 3tech with his disruption is an ideal fit for our BOLTS.

          91) MAX SCHARPING (OT) NIU

          scharping.jfif

RSR. 6'6'', 324#, 9 3/4'' hands, 33 5/8'' arms, 79'' wingspan. Ironman/4 yr starter, played both ROT/LOT w/ a few games at OG, only allowed 2 sacks in 4 years, played best against top competition, short choppy footwork in kickslide allows for easy body adjustments, good hand placement but needs to provide more shock value w/punch, excellent down blocker, easily works combo blocks to 2nd/3rd levels, dominant grip strength - when he gets his hands inside the rep is over, gets movement @ POA after initial stalemate, gets beat inside when his hands are wide to start, good recovery to counters, must improve strength and ability to anchor early in reps, easily makes reach & scoop blocks, patient in pass sets and rarely out of position. Max will need to get into our S&C PROGRAM to maximize his already impressive skillset and ability to anchor bull rushers. STARTING CALIBER PROSPECT W/SOME IMPACT TRAITS.

Why? Tevi's performance last season requires an upgrade while he is still developing, depth, Okung's age/contract/plan ahead.

          130) JAMEL DEAN (CB) AUB

          dean.jfif

RJR. 6' 1'', 206#, 9 1/8'' HANDS, 31 3/4'' ARMS, 40YD - 4.3, 10YS - , BP - 16 REPS @ 225, VJ - 41'', BJ - 130'', 3CONE - 7.02, 20S - 4.19, 60S - . Jamel is an athletic freak who started out at OSU before being declared medically ineligible due to multi knee surgeries in HS. This lead him to transfer to AUB and during spring 16 had another knee injury requiring surgery. He has been healthy since but must be a big factor in his draft status. Jamel is a long press corner with insane acceleration, length, physicality, and ball separation skills. Extremely physical when in press, solid transition footwork, excellent punch placement which causes route/timing disruption, solid form tackler who relishes run support opportunities, good football IQ in route concept understanding (former HS receiver), fights for ball at highest point, little overconfident in his recovery speed, flexibility limited with hips on tight inside breaking routes, gets too handsy on digs/comeback routes, ability to bait QB with recovery speed/instincts. IMPACT PROSPECT W/ ELITE TRAITS.

Why? Competition, size, speed, depth, planning ahead with contracts over the next 2 years. Getting a top 20 talent on my board this late due to a series of early knee injuries. If he checks out medically this is the steal of the draft and woirh the risk.

          166) KAHALE WARRING (TE) SDSU

          warring.jfif

RJR. 6' 5'', 252#, 9 3/4'' HANDS, 32 3/4'' ARMS, 40YD - 4.67, 10YS - , BP - 19 REPS @ 255, VJ - 36.5'', BJ 122'', 3CONE - 7.21, 20S - 4.25, 60S - 11.72. Raw, inexperienced, uber-athlete who is just learning to play ball. Ideal frame, length, height/weight prospect, physical at POA, blocking technique is raw and in developmental stages, good route tree already, excellent footwork with in/ out breaks , uses body position to shield defender from ball, tremendous movement skills, natural pass catcher with excellent hands, very raw but high ceiling. Will be developing prospect for 1-2 years but worth the investment here. STARTING CALIBER PROSPECT W/ IMPACT TRAITS.

Why? Without HH receiving ability last season, the offense lacked dimension, depth, HH injury history/contract, explosive 2 TE sets.

          200) ARMON WATTS (DT) ARK

RSR. 6' 4 1/2'', 300#, 9 5/8'' hands, 33 3/8'' arms, 80 7/8'' wingspan, 40YD - 5.23, 10YS - 1.81, VJ - , BJ - , REPS @ 225, 20S -, 60S-. Armon is an ascending prospect who has improved his game each season. Great size, length, power, and very HOT motor. Uses leverage to hold gap integrity, excellent improved ability to stack/shed, needs to improve drive power to reset LOS, handles doubles well w/ability to split, consistently double-teamed on nearly every pass rep, has developed a push-pull & rip-swim, has tremendous upside as 0-3 tech pass rusher, solid contact balance through trash, seems very coachable as seen by his improvement. Armon needs to be developed in both the weight room and technique with his hands/body positioning/PR plan. BU/ROTATIONAL - STARTING CALIBER PROSPECT.

Why? Replace one 6th round Arkansas prospect with a new one. Depth, his size/length/strength, rotation, big upside, already a stout run defender with a big upside as an interior disruptor/pass rusher.

          242) ALEXANDER MATTISON (RB) BSU

JR. 5' 10 1/2'', 221#, 9 1/8'' HANDS, 31'' ARMS, 40YD - 4.67, 10YS - 1.51, VJ - 35'', BJ - 127'', 22 REPS @ 225, 3CONE - 7.13, 20S - 4.29, 60S - 11.69. Alex is a versatile big back with power, agility, PP chops, and receiving ability. He runs decisively, solid low pad level, breaks initial contact, tremendous contact balance, burst to get corner (10ys - 1.51), a little wiggle, flexibility allows for 90 degree cuts, runs through arms tackles, delivers jarring contact, excellent vision/instincts, defenders glance off contact, hard/tough/gritty runner, protects the football, good hands, will need to work on PP base and route execution. A 3-down back with power, tremendous vision, 90-degree cutting ability, and receiving skills. STARTING CALIBER PROSPECT.

Why? MGIII injury history/contract, the offense was not as effective when MGIII misses time, believe Alex would be our starting RB in 2020

          * Only 5 pics allowed per post so none for Armon or Alex.

Nice effing draft. Props, mad props.

What I like: high pick on a top FS, needed. High pick on a pass rush DT, also needed. Also not against that CB, risky but yeah, good spot for it.

No LB, but we did draft two last year, and already added a very good FA, that squad should be better if everybody can stay healthy.

yeah, nice draft. My only question is whether half those guys would be available.

                Always the case isn't it?
Which prospects seem dramatically out of round consideration?

Coverage versatility is a hot commodity in today's NFL and Virginia's Juan Thornhill has been a common name in NFL circles when referring to the 2019 NFL Draft in recent weeks.

A former cornerback, Thornhill found a home at safety in 2018, posting an 89.3 overall grade that ranks third among FBS safeties in the draft class. He'd already been making great strides at cornerback, after grading at only 64.3 with a passer rating allowed of 103.5 back in 2016, Thornhill improved to grade at 81.0 overall in 2017 to go with a passer rating of 69.3 into his coverage.

Even with the improvement, a move to safety in 2018 may have been just what Thornhill needed in order to improve his draft stock. He's been fantastic in that role, grading at 91.2 at all safety positions, fifth-best in the draft class over the last three years. When isolating to just free safety, Thornhill grades at 90.6, fourth-best in the class during that time, albeit on a small sample size of only 178 snaps. Still, he's shown an excellent feel for playing deep zone, combining the ability to quickly diagnose plays with the athleticism to break on the ball and make plays at the catch point.

On the other hand, Thornhill's numbers at cornerback are pedestrian when compared to the rest of the class. Even with the 2017 improvement, his 78.2 overall grade ranks just 72nd in the class over the last three years and his coverage grade of 70.1 ranks 139th. He certainly had a few flash plays when playing outside, but overall, Thornhill has looked more comfortable as a deep safety, both in coverage and in the run game where he's been excellent.

Thornhill's coverage numbers have been sensational when lined up at safety. Despite a small sample size, his coverage ability does shine through.

Opponents have completed only 2-of-16 attempts into Thornhill's primary coverage at safety and he's come away with four interceptions while forcing incompletions on seven of the 16 targets.

Still, NFL teams may look at Thornhill's 6-foot, 205-pound frame and project him at cornerback where his size and athleticism are intriguing for the most valuable position on the defense. He had an excellent showing at the NFL Combine, running a 4.42 40-yard dash while putting up some of the best all-time numbers in both the vertical jump (44 inches) and the broad jump (141 inches). The jumps were reminiscent of Dallas Cowboys CB Byron Jones, who set records with a 44.5-inch vertical and a 147-inch broad, all while dominating the agility drills and running a reported 4.36 40 at his pro day.

While Jones played cornerback in college, he started his career as a safety and in the slot for Dallas, before successfully transitioning outside for the Cowboys last year and performing as one of the league's best corners. That may have a few teams looking at Thornhill's similar size and athletic profile to give him a shot at cornerback before moving back to safety as a worst-case scenario.

Either way, Thornhill's progression at Virginia makes him one of the draft's most valuable assets in the secondary and he should have his name called by Day 2 at the latest come draft weekend.
As a certified leg man, I love those numbers. TT gotta have him slotted somewhere.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.

Love your first 3....I think your reaching, according to consensus, on the first 2 picks...but who cares? Both good players, and both are climbing the boards...Max is a close second to McGary for me...sleeper olineman of the draft, he may not be there in the third...

                        Bottom line, love the mock.

I like that draft. I'd have done things a bit different but overall it's good.
I'm still apprehensive about Dean but in the 4th, not a huge gamble. He has been healthy for 2 seasons now. I like Warring but he is a big project and doubt he contributes this year but for the future I like it.
I don't think ALL those guys are starting caliber players as you list them or they wouldn't be there in those rounds lol. Warring is never going to beat out Henry for example.
I like Mattison but there are some others I like more but it's still a good pick if the others are gone.

That is your final already? No changes coming?
