I think working out at the combine, even after a long post season run, shows great football character.
    kind of like extra credit.
no harm unless you think it's exposure to injury, which could be a valid concern.

for example, if Rivers were to have won the College football championship
you better believe he would wake up the next day and workout at the combine.
Character has nothing to do with it. He is the consensus #1 player by a large margin with nothing to prove. Participating does not help him in any way, shape or form.

And remember, Rivers held out of camp and the first 2 preseason games, costing himself a chance at starting over Brees.

I would be up for drafting Charlie Heck day 3. He would at least make a good swing tackle. RT his junior year and LT his senior year. I believe UNC was a top 5 rushing offense.

        PFF's post Combine Mock says...

        --CIN Burrow
        --WAS Tua
        --DET Chase
        --NYG Becton
        --MIA Herbert

        LAC Isaiah Simmons, c'mon down.

Special rule this year at the draft.
No trades allowed in the top 10...

        I’m good with that!

Heck is a solid prospect with things you can’t teach and NFL pedigree. Father is the Oline coach of the quefs and former 1st round OT.

Nutbar at PFF said LAC would need to take Okudah over Simmons there,
because of value at the position.

Its now common almost to the point of expected for consensus top pick to not risk a downgrade by going full tilt at the combine. Burrow is not the first, won’t be the last.

I forgot about Rivers hold out. Lol

Value in that. We definitely need upgrade at CB, and TT has already tried once with Verrett (imagine if he had been able to play 16 games per year for us, and still with us!). Shutdown corner = high need.

                  I prefer Simmons.

Agree...Okie is a great player, but Simmons is also a great player, and at a position where he will be involved more directly with a lot more plays right around the LOS...plus Simmons's ability to blitz and cover TE's...Simmons just gives us a lot more value for our $$ than a CB who might get thrown at just a few times a game...

I dunno, a shut down CB makes everybody better like a good EDGE does. Make the field smaller, everybody on D shines.

It's a TE league right now & Simmons would certainly help with that. I can't ever remember a time when there was this many great TEs. Seems like every team has at least 1, some have multiple.

If memory serves, Rivers' agent wanted 1st overall money rather than 4th overall because of the trade.
