Hester first wakened me to the horror of the dreaded "Tweener" that cannot do any single thing particularly well. NFL is all about specialists, there's no place for a tweener in today's NFL unless he's a freak monster that excels at multiple spots. Hester was not that guy.

Anyway...still not big on Love...but if we took the guy, I would rather it be like this. Get an all pro rookie at #6...trade back into the first for a QB if necessary.

But yea...would like to keep all our picks.
      No comp pick

That would be the desirable way to do it......but I have a strong feeling that because there are at least a dozen teams that need a QB, that at least 4 of them will go very quickly in this draft....

probably in top 6 or 7 picks...... if Burrow, Tua, and Hebert go above chargers either to current top 5 teams or to those who trade up....... Love will likely be taken by Chargers because CAR will not pass on him...neither will raiders, Indy, TB, NE(they will have to trade up), JAX, CHI, TEN, NO, .....etc... If CIN and Wash trade those 2 picks away then we can add those 2 teams as competition for Love....... or Eason, ...or Fromm.......

If Chargers have Love rated as a high first rounder, odds are others do too......

The run on QBs is usually never as bad as it seems like it will be before the draft ensues. That being said... there are only 3 QBs that are worth a top 10 pick in this draft IMO: Burrows, Tua and Herbert. There is certainly a good chance that all three will be gone by pick #6. If that does occur, it would leave one heck of a difference-maker available for the Chargers at pick 6... the kind of player that generally goes #1 or #2 in a QB light draft. Part of me says just sit tight and take the BPA... if Tua or Herbert is available then you select them... otherwise get a beast on D (Simmons) or OL (Wills). But the Chargers have the talent to turn this thing around quickly so it is quite possible that they will not be in the position in the near future to draft a franchise QB... i.e. they won't be drafting this high. In the end I think the Chargers HAVE to get their QB of the future right now. If one of three QBs listed is "your guy", then it is OK to trade the farm to get him. KC gave away a ton for their guy and that ended up pretty well for them... <just vomited a bit in my mouth>.

With respect to Love... dude should not be a top 10 selection... Not even sure he should be a 1st rounder.

I agree with all of this. I wonder if the Chargers will make a play for a FA QB, like Bridgewater. If so, they can get the BPA or trade down if one of the QBs is still there at 6 and a team behind them is desperate.

Even with trading Okung, I'm still thinking we need Simmons at 6. He's just got so much updside and could make a huge impact for our D.
Now, if he's gone, and with a glaring need at LT, do we take that LT or possibly move back in the round and pick up an extra 2nd, 3rd, or 4th?

I think the Bolts love Pipkens...they may think he is ready to go full time on the left side...in other words, they may not see a glaring need at LT. I sure don't see TT giving up on him this early...though it may be possible they like him for the right side, and do plan to go with a guy like Bechton at #6.
                    Adopted Bolt: Kimani Vidal RB

Final prediction: Latham OT, Colson LB, Sainristil CB,Rice WR, Zinter OG, Nourzad OC, MacLachlan TE, Vidal RB, Lovett DT

I expect Trai to help us get improvement from the guy on his right shoulder, be it Tevi or Pipkins.
Maybe we do play modern football.
