This hire would also likely mean the team is trying to not tinker with Herbert and the offense. Revamp the D and STs. Build off the offense under Pep and maybe even Steichen.
I like your thought process there Fleet! It was not by accident that Herbert had the historic rookie season he had.. Daboll and Brady seem enticing enough, but there were some good things that the Chargers offense accomplished, including the development of Herbert, which was not only unexpected so soon, but doing so in rookie record breaking fashion..

Of course there were some not so great moments also on the offensive coordinator end, which is much easier to overlook since Steichen was in his first full year as the true offensive coordinator. Pep would be a nice addition also, even if he becomes the new offensive coordinator himself. I would like to keep them both really.. with a tough and disciplined leader overseeing the operation.

Pep as NFL offensive coordinator stroll down memory lane.....

INDIANAPOLIS -- The Colts fired offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton on Tuesday and replaced him with Rob Chudzinski.

"Through the first eight weeks of the season, we have felt our offense hasn't performed at the consistent level that we need," coach Chuck Pagano said in a statement issued less than a day after the team's 29-26 overtime loss at Carolina.

        • Meet new Colts OC Rob Chudzinski, who was on Hurricanes' staff with Pagano
        • Pep Hamilton becomes fall guy as Colts make necessary changes

"Because of this, we've decided to go in a different direction and relieve Pep Hamilton of his duties as offensive coordinator. As head coach of this team, it's my responsibility to make sure I'm doing everything we can to put us in the best position to succeed. We thank Pep for his service to the team and wish him all the best."

The past offseason, the Colts added receiver Andre Johnson and running back Frank Gore through free agency and selected receiver Phillip Dorsettin the first round of this year's draft. Those three joined receivers T.Y. Hilton and Donte Moncrief and tight ends Dwayne Allen and Coby Fleener to give quarterback Andrew Luck the best supporting cast of his career.

Even so, the Colts, who at 3-5 are tied with Houston for the lead in the AFC South, have struggled offensively all season. They have been shut out in the first half three times. They're 16th in the league in yards per game and 20th in points a game. Luck is having the worst season of his four-year career, as he leads the NFL in turnovers with 13.

No news on when this interview will be? He’s the best candidate of all the ones we’re interested in.
Tom Telesco’s Results in 9 years as Chargers GM:

          - 69-74 record
          - 0 division titles in 9 yrs as GM
          - Worst record among all active GMs with same tenure
          - 6th worst winning percentage among all active GMs overall
          - 2 playoff wins despite elite QB all 9 yrs
          - Team still has the same weaknesses (Oline and run defense) that it had when hired as GM in 2013
          - Consistently puts together horrible depth, expects starters to never miss games

No luck with Luck but good luck with Herbert! There's a mouthful.

Story today that Bienemy didn't interview well in Atlanta which was quickly rebuffed.

So who knows these days what is true -- if somebody has an agenda to leak bad stories.

True, I'm just passing along news. They did say Marvin Lewis was impressive for Detroit.
