  • Week 1 Bolts Vs Bengals Discussion

The biggest question in my mind going into the season? Will Gus Bradley unleash this defense? If he does the talent everywhere will blossom.

The most obvious situation to pin the ears back and go blitz crazy will be in week one. Rookie QB, no preseason prep and a questionable O-line. The Chargers would be stupid not to bring pressure on the rookie right from the start. If Gus doesn't have his defense aggressive in this game then it will show everyone what we will be. Please no passive predictable zones this game.

The Chargers have a knack for making young QB's look better than they are. I hope we don't continue that trend.

      100% agree
bring the heat early and often for all those reasons

Or... if their Oline sucks... pressure with 4 and confuse the QB with disguised coverage. Blitz packages can be used used to mix things up!

Let’s shutdown the bungals run game early, mix coverages, get a 2 score lead, and let the big dawgs loose to give Burreaux a proper NFL rookie welcome.

Mixon is probably their biggest offensive threat
lets hope our defenders aren’t unsuspecting college girls

Definitely have to bring the heat in that situation. Get the D pumped up early! Love to see a good CB or safety blitz in the mix

You make good points and back it with sound logic. Which is why we will do the opposite. Gus will run the picket fence all game long while rushing three and dropping Bosa into coverage.

                      LOL!
Seems unlikely. We're practicing to beat KC.
Losing to Cincy won't make Reid play his backups.

I agree you have to mix it up but our percentages were anything but that. See below

We only blitzed 16.6% of the time, third lowest in the NFL. Too predictable in my book. Would much rather see 25%+ unless our front four is getting consistent pressure which we did not do last year.
