I’d say that’s a hefty price, but perhaps speaks to our desperation to solidify the interior of the future.

The Pouncey signing was also extremely needed to shore up the interior. Rivers was most susceptible to middle pressure and Pouncey took care of that. It made Rivers a better QB (or restored him to his level of greatness) and showed the team was invested in him. Remember there were rumors that Rivers was not going to be re-signed for his prior contract. So Pouncey checked a lot of boxes and was a big reason for the 12-4 record. His body is just breaking down now.
