I voted that McCoy is doing a great job. I think our issues are not with McCoy or Pagano. I think Reich lacks feel for which plays to call at times and also lacks creativity in play calling in general.

The latter point really stood out as I watched us play after having just watched the Cardinals beat the Chiefs. There was a critical third down late in the game and Arians made what I could only characterize as a very sweet play call to pick up the first down on a pass play that looked like the play was going in the opposite direction. Arians play calling reminded me that Whisenhunt did that for us too from time to time. Last year, there were those times where you just said, "Yeah, nice play call on that play." That doesn't seem to happen for us very often any more with Reich calling plays.

The other issue, of course, is our OL, which is not McCoy's fault either.

Unlike some on this board, I actually like McCoy's refusal to give up information to the media. It lets me know that he is thinking about the things he can do to make us win. Although it is not saying much, McCoy is much, much better than Norv ever was as a head coach. I think he is part of the solution, not part of the problem.

I don't think the issue is either McCoy or Reich though they certainly aren't perfect. It's the lack of injuries and plain lack of talent on the oline that is killing us.

I gave him a 4, he's doing a good job overall but I want to see how he reacts to poor coaching from some of his staff. He needs to step up and lay down the law when their philosophy is not working and that is all part of being a good leader and a teacher. Our OC in particular needs to get his head out of his ass and he still can because he's a rookie so probably not too set in his ways yet like Norv was. It's up to McCoy to show him the light. If he does that, my vote goes up to 5 again.

And yes, I know I keep harping on this subject

On one hand... he isn't Norv.

The other hand is too empty to tell so far.

Maybe the right question is whether McCoy is maximizing his toolbox. Even though I though a loss was inevitable after that huge TD, the call not to go for it with 6 minutes to go was a huge headscratcher. I read his comments on the play, but maybe you have to throw a little carelessness. I don't think he gave up, but maybe he didn't understand historically that you can't just give the ball back to Brady. He's the youngest HC in the league, so I'm confident that he'll review his stance internally, but for competitive reasons he'll just defend the decision to keep the opposition guessing.

I wouldn't blame the lack of injuries.

                Note to McCoy:

Less turtling please. That is all.

Still dealing with AJ's picks that have yet to flourish, and dealing with injuries out the wazoo... I always hope we have what it takes to make the playoffs, but this year we have a realistic shot and we won a PO game last year. All coaches have something to learn so that choice was lame; to me, he has exceeded my expectations and the only direction I can go with my vote is the top top.

I think he is a good coach with good leadership and preparation qualities, however game management and decision making is subpar. He either needs to correct his mistakes and make better decisions or hire a game management coach to do that job for him during gametime.

Wow, that was clearly a mistake! Let me re-phrase that to an excessive amount of injuries!
