I think we might be a playoff team if...

Herbert has another season like he just had - or better - and we improve all over the place (in all aspects).

IMO, we need a d-line that can be consistently physical enough to get some push up-field. I see this goal as most important. And probably most elusive IMO. In any event, something to free our linebackers to make plays.

Our linebackers need to clean up and be consistent, relentless tacklers. Not just "hitters".

Derwin James needs to be healthy, period.

A healthy James is a must.

    As is Bosa.

Our secondary needs better health throughout. We're not that deep any more.

And the o-line needs stabilizing. I want Herbert to feel safe. Whatever it takes for that.

It would also be nice if we could run the ball.

Along with the "I hate Gus" and Gus doesn't blitz enough for them or bring pressure, and blaming the scheme. When the issues are bigger than that.

Our number one problem is at Dline.
Improving the rotation up front is my emphasis.
Tillery, JJones and Nwosu must develop rapidly now.
We do not play modern football.

Gus is an idiot...you need to be a rocket scientist in the league now....Gus can't train a mouse to fart!

Please explain why both cant be true. Too many here have drawn sides and only belive one of these can exist at a given time.

Yes, they are not mutually exclusive and can overlap! Lynn, Gus, and Stewart suck plus injuries = crappy season!

                J. Jones had a really good 2020 season.
Tillery is a liability in run defense. He is a situational PR at best so far.
Uchenna needs to be in a deep rotation with limited snaps to be most effective.
We need to acquire 2 young edge players to boost our passrush.

Uchenna was a big playmaker at USC, constantly making big plays. That's what I recall anyway. Is he being used similarly here to his USC days? If not, is he capable of being used that way here?

He played basically the same position as our LEO atUSC. He is a speed rusher who can be effective in passing downs. He had a ton of batted passes at USC. I think his ceiling is a 7-10 sack guy but he has yet to produce at that rate. His coming 4th season will decide if he gets paid in 2022.

not likely.....Gus stupidly likes putting players in positions opposite of what their skills/experiemnce would suggest......

He has said he did not know if Tillery could play DE until late this season???????....whagt do they do in practice?????

Murrey was a stud in the box LBer who was a tackling machine and great aty TFL and QB pressures, yet for most of his rookie year, Lynn and Gus had him as our primary coverage LBer..... the one thing he did not do well in college....and that was with no pre-season to learn a new position??????? ....that is stupid coaching.....

I appreciate that. Was Jones effective even without Bosa in the game? I may have shorted Mr. Jones. I apologize!

He really played the run well. He is still a limited pass rusher.
