Roll the dice, pay them 10 times the sum of the dice, and start building.
To use a water board analogy
these negotiations are like torture, or at least enhanced interrogation.

Bingo! I think I saw somewhere that the purchase price was something like $30M to be split by 2 teams.

Can you see a developer buying the santee dump and trying to build homes there?
The Mission Valley site has been 'decontaminated' over the past 10 years.
          Whatever that means.

            • LOL raiders just signed a short term lease to stay in Bay Area... Did they just take the Chargers leverage? What a joke this whole thing is.

SORRY! I posted the wrong link! This is it.

The Raiders might not be on the move after all, signing a lease to stay by the Bay.

The Oakland Raiders and the Oakland Alameda County Coliseum Authority have agreed on a short-term lease to keep the franchise at the O.co Coliseum in Oakland, Calif., according to NBC Bay Area. There has been rampant speculation that the Raiders might leave the city for the second time in 33 years, whether it is to San Antonio or Los Angeles.

In recent months, there has been talk that the Raiders and San Diego Chargers would combine forces to move into a new stadium within Los Angeles. The move would have been targeted for as early as 2016, although the proposed stadium would not have been ready yet. Should the Los Angeles idea ever come to fruition, one of the teams would likely have to leave the AFC West, where both have been since they were created as American Football League teams in 1960.

Owner Mark Davis has made it clear his franchise wants a new stadium with funding coming from both the private and public sector. The Raiders played in the Coliseum since it was opened in 1967, before moving to Los Angeles prior to the 1982 season. Former owner Al Davis, Mark's father, kept the team in the City of Angels through the 1993 campaign before returning to Oakland and the coliseum. There were renovations done to the coliseum in the mid-1990's, including the famous addition which is known as Mount Davis.

This will bring the Chargers in earnest back to the negotiating table.

So what's the point of this deal? They can still leave after this season.

The Joint Powers Authority on Friday approved a short term lease renewal for the Oakland Raiders to remain as tenants at the Oakland Coliseum.

It would have been awkward to not have any place to play in 2015, I guess
