I think every now and then you get really lucky with the development of a player. We have had a few. But its a crap shoot. Its an odds thing. And Pitts greatly reduces the odds that your TE gem that becomes a Kelce/Waller type flames out. He is a set it and forget it mismatch. Almost instantly.

The simple fact that TT used a 2nd on Henry tells me he has no problem spending a 1st on player like Pitts. Who has a much higher ceiling than Henry.

Any and all draft strategies should be on the table.

Everyone talks about taking BPA in the draft. But I think it’s more that it’s broken down by ranking in the first round:
1) BPA at a premium position (OT, Edge Rusher, Corner)

2) BPA at PON

I don’t think BPA should include skill positions like receivers, tight end, and especially RBs unless it’s at the bottom of the 1st round or they’re generational talents. It’s times like these that I wish TT was better at finding ways to trade down.

My immature mind keeps telling me we are interested in Pitts. Or it could just be my own obsession with him. Because from a TE perspective he really reminds me of Waller. Do you pay Henry 40M over 4/5 years? Or draft his replacement and then some at 4M per over 4 years?

Dont come after me i know we need OL. Just low on bodies as it is. But if they are going to do the whole skill position thing at 13 he is not a bad get.

Pitts makes a lot of plays flexed out and/or in the slot. Why not use him as a hybrid WR/TE/Hback, like we did with Vincent Jackson, and just don't think of him as a TE, even if he kinda is one.

The goal is to get the right kinds of guys to make plays, and Pitts can do that. He really doesn't do the same things as Henry, so why think of him as a replacement for him. We could use both.

Yep. Thats why i suggested cutting MW weeks ago and saving 15M. He can do it all imo. No need to bring Henry back either. Thats 25M in savings. Put that in the OL.

Pretty spot on...Pitts would replace a MW....or what MW should have been...highly effective redzone target, and 50/50 ball ace...I don't think he replaces Henry at all.

Agreed. My proposal has been to draft Pitts, resign Green, and recognize that there will be offers for HH. Does TT have guts to let MWilliams go after selecting him in round 1 ?

Yes to Pitts at 13. No to Harris. That would require a move back. Grab another 2.

I wouldn't touch Harris at all in the 1st, and wouldn't really like it even with our current 2nd. As a general rule, I stay far away from 'Bama RB's.I prefer guys who can shine without multiple 1st rounders in the same huddle.

Exactly. I don't consider him a TE as much as an offensive weapon that creates serious mismatches.

Go after one of the best UFA OL. No need to press on OL at 13. Go in with options. Maybe Trent Williams. Draft best OL in 2nd.

No to a TE in the first round. Waller was a 6th round pick after all. Kelce was a third rounder and and Kittle was 5th rounder.

True but hindsight being what it is, is pick #13 a bad investment if you get any of those 3 dudes?
