Donald Butler Isnt Very Good

Telesco and Co have proven that they will eat someone's salary (Gaither, Cox, Meachump), if that player is not worth what he is being paid. In the 5 games I've watched, Butler has NOT been a difference maker. If the trend continues - and it appears to have gotten even worse, if anything, based on the comments - then it wouldn't be a shock if Butler was cut loose after this season.

Hmm, looking at Overthecap and Spotrac, their numbers are confusing but I think his contract is structured so that they can pretty much get out from under it after the 2015 season. If they cut him after this season, it's a huge cap hit. Is this going to be the annual tradition now? Cutting players and taking big cap hits every year?

Not sure about a "tradition", but if the guy is worthless, then cut him. Bring in someone who can play. However, if it's only one more season (after this one), then you MIGHT be able to make a case for keeping him around, just in case he were to rebound.

Ya know, with all the injury issues the League has been dealing with - not the least of which is the concussion/CTS scare - one has to wonder if Butler, now that he's gotten his big 2nd contract, is just riding it out.

I have been watching Butler closely the last three games and although I am far from being an expert I think that his lack of assertiveness is very obvious. He does not attack ever! He is very quick to join in at the end of another player's tackle and seems to act as though he was actually contributing to the play. I think that Butler is one of those guys who have had their payday (11 million) and have lost the drive or need to accomplish anything further. He has enough money to be comfortable for the rest of his life so....

Well, taking off my Chargers fan hat I can see that point of view. Even on this board we lament the early demise of broken down warriors this game spits out.

As fans it pisses us off to see such a performance, especially if we perceive he's dogging it; but as human beings can we blame him? (If he is indeed dogging it to protect himself).

Personally I don't believe this to be the case. I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt and believe that maybe he's playing through some sort of injury.

I honestly think Weddle was talking about Butler, When he called out players & saying they won't be on the field if they continue not to have heart & give it their all

Butler looks uninterested, comfortable & content.....Takeo Spikes was grooming him into an elite player, But has since regressed after that big contract :-/ He seriously needs to be benched, Because being called out by TT & MM didn't work.

To top it off, Butler hasn't been doing any interviews ....What a Bum, Dudes dodging the media. He's letting his play, Do the talking
