The Trai contract flexibility was part of the decision to make the trade.

What do you mean? The team saves $11.5 million. That's getting something back alright. LOL!Originally posted by Parcells View PostI’ll be stunned if we get anything for him.

Well the team trading for him does get his rights so they think its worth flipping a future 6th rounder for. But you are right - his deal is probably getting re-done in whatever scenario.Originally posted by richpjr View PostWhy trade for him when you can sign him to a much better contract after we cut him in a few days?

Right. I think the 31 other GMs can see that Turner's salary for this year guarantees that he will get cut. I mean we are arguably the most OL needy team in the entire league and we are trying to get rid of him. The situation does not exactly convey the message that is Turner is worthy of any sort of significant trade consideration.Originally posted by richpjr View PostWhy trade for him when you can sign him to a much better contract after we cut him in a few days?
It is right for us to try, but the writing in this situation appears to be already on the wall.
When there is no trade interest in Turner and we cut him, teams can just offer what, if anything, they feel comfortable with offering, which will certainly be far less than $11.5M.
