What Would You Be OK with the Chargers Giving Up to Move Up for Sewell?

I listed these in ascending order. All of these assume adding picks plus the 13th pick. If Sewell makes it past 5, he may slide a bit. Then it’s a question of how much you’d be willing to give up to move up for him. I did throw in a final choice that you just wouldn’t want them to move up for Sewell.

Personally, I’d be ecstatic to see us get Sewell. It would be really painful to lose our 2022 first rounder. I’d prefer to get him for less, but if the price was our first two picks this year and our second rounder next year, I could live with it to get Sewell.

I’ve posted my unpopular opinion enough on this topic, without giving into literalism, whatever it takes to take Telesco’s evaluation out of the equation
generational talents at a premium position of desperate need, a direct investment in our greatest strength (Herbert).
future premium is a fair price to pay, none are guaranteed.
but Sewell is worth the risk.

    very plausible scenario
    great thread

Where is he projected to go off the board at now? I've given this some thought, but I think the cost in draft picks would be too steep. You only give up that much draft capital to take a QB. This draft is deep in LT prospects. We will get a good one without forfeiting additional picks.

He is going in the range of 4 to 7 pick
Trade should be very similar to Miami and Eagles trade IMO

He won't get past the Bungles at No. 5. He will be the first non-QB off the board. You'd have to get Atlanta's No. 4 pick. The Bungles are salivating and thanking their lucky stars that Sewell is now poised to fall to them. They want him as badly as the Bolts for the same reason. I don't know if you could persuade the Bungles to pass on the opportunity to draft him. Atlanta might pass on a QB and draft him at No. 4.

I’d give up the 2nd round pick but that’s about it. Or next years #1 but taking back the other team’s #2. Neither would likely get accepted, but Sewell doesn’t sound like a sure thing enough to give up too much.

I hear Joe Burrow is trying himself, asking for Chase

I would prefer giving the 2017, pick # 7 to Baltimore for Brown.

Depends on where he falls. I'm not trading up to number 3 to get him and trading a bunch of picks but if he falls number 9 I got no problem giving up a third.

Assuming we had to trade up to #5 with Cinci

Using the JJ draft chart it would cost our 1st (13th - 1150 pts), 2nd (47th - 430 pts) and 3rd (97th - 112 pts) round picks to trade up to #5 (1700) with Cinci

                    Using the Fitzgerald-Spielberger Chart it would cost our 1st (13th - 1700), 5th (159th - 431), and 6th round pick (185th - 354) for their #5 (5th overall 2184) and 6th round picks (202nd - 341)

                    Using the Havard Chart - 1st (13th - 276.8) and 4th (118 - 82.6) for their 1st (5th - 357.9)

Even though I don't think they really need Sewell, I am not sure they would do it anyway. While Cinci has some OT, they might play him at OG. He is a dominant close quarters mauler as well as having the ability to play in space. While he could be one of the OT in football, he might be an even better OG, sort of the Larry Allen sense.

The first key is that Atlanta takes a QB or trades out of #4 to someone who takes a QB. Then, if Cincy goes for Chase, we have a chance. Because I think Miami takes one of the Alabama WRs or Pitts. Same goes for Det. Jumping up from 13 to 8 or 9 is more feasible.

It’s why I did the poll. The first question for the Chargers is what they’d give up to get Sewell. I agree that the cost will be too high to go all the way to 4 or 5.
