I don't even know what we have in Bosa & Derwin. DJ has been a no-show and Bosa hasn't been dominant.
I want to agree that we have superior over-all D talent but a LOT depends on Staley & his D coaching assistants. I think we can be a top 5 D or better in '21 "IF".
GO BOLTS !!
IF we're even Top 10 Herbie will just Roll over other teams and they won't know what hit them!
More Staley stuff.
Emphasis on third down.
A problem area for LAC.

Wood, would u say Staley will show the rest of the league how REAL MODERN FOOTBALL is played?
Watching LAR 2020 D film they look more and more like an NBA defense with all the rotations. They don't just let receivers scrape between zones, actively pass them. Having the weak S sitting the crossing zones takes away a lot but M Davis gonna have to step up.

30. Gus is in Vegas and he’s already got a great system. All it needs to click is pro bowl players at MLB, DT, LCB, RCB, S, S2 …

Brochachos. Sounds delicious. Kinda like a Friendchalada?
I think we’re gonna see a lot of 4-1 box looks on 3rd and passing downs.
Bosa, Linval, and Tillery/Jones will be full time rushers.
Nwosu, Murray, and Derwin will be continually shifting pre-snap, alternating and threatening as the 4th (or 4th and 5th) pass rusher, keeping the offensive set guessing. The non-rusher(s) will drop into coverage. D7CB887F-EA36-4F10-A90D-AB1EAF106569.jpeg
Thanks for posting that article. It is a really good one. I think the Rams defense will take a big step back this season. They will blame it on free agent losses, but it will really be because Staley left. I remain convinced he will find ways to elevate the play of ALL Chargers, not just the superstars. And his intelligence will allow him to design plays and schemes and defenses that will be different than some of what the Rams were doing under him but still just as effective. Other teams will definitely try to mimic him, but what they are missing is not so much Donald and Ramsey but instead Staley.
The Seattle defense was easy to copy because it was so easy to play. But it truly depended on superstar talent and we all see what happened when that talent dropped off a bit or when Gus and then the guy who replaced him (name escaping my old brain, QUinn??) and went to Atlanta tried to implement the same defense.
Put it in green so everyone know's your being clever!
Everyone already knows I’m clever
Did I mention i think Gus’s defensive scheme sucks ass and it only “worked” in Seattle because Pete C & Co fortuitously drafted / collected one of the greatest squads of defensive talent in the last 50 yrs? I cannot wait to see him ruin LVR, i hope he can hang on for even 3 years there.

Gus reminds me of the "one-hit wonder" musician, who keeps on living off his one hit for years afterwards, playing at Indian casinos, county fairs and high school assemblies...
