Mr. Staley, please refrain from soft shell zone coverages while Derwin is in the rotation. I saw that tendency creep back up in this game when Derwin was in -- playing that kind of zone scheme that got us in trouble on 3rd downs and on rushing downs earlier in the season. When you potentially have 3-4 (maybe even 5) DBs out there who can actually play press and man and yet be able to read other zones and instinctually drop out of their coverage to make a potential play on the ball, there's no need to play so far off of the receivers. The kind of plays that Davis and Samuel made today really embodies my concept of "press-zone" -- that is, letting the DBs play to their strengths which is press and man coverage while allowing them to freelance if they instinctually see a potential opportunity to make a play within or even outside of their coverages.

It certainly helps that we have Fehoko there at NT, and Van Noy with Mack setting the edge and SJD as the 3-tech DT, and Gilman and Adderley at safety. I think Gilman is highly underrated and unheralded as far as it relates to the successes we are having in the secondary.

All in all, it's been a pleasure to watch the secondary in particular -- such a work of art when they can do what they do best based on their individual strengths.
