Coach Staley Discussion - Fired

Years ago the HC was allowed to fine players for things like Joey did. The times have changed. Now the HC can get in hot water for chewing a guy out. Get used to it. It's like protecting the QB, it's likely to get worse.

Pretty soon the NFL will be just the NBA, with the inmates running the asylum . . . . . . star players demanding special treatment, switching teams as they please, no accountability . . . . . so much to look forward to . . . . . .

It's going to have to or things change next season. I'm more worried about Telescos inability to draft and develop new players rather than relying on expensive aging talent. The coaching staff looks alright but will they get the draft right to fix a lot of problems. Other than the two guards last years draft did zero to get the team over the hump.

Last year's draft: Zion- starter, Mack (2nd in trade)- starter, Woods, Spiller not much, Otito looked good until injury, Salyer- starter, Taylor, Leonard special teams gunner stars, Horvath got some snaps at FB.
Woods, Spiller, Taylor look like development draftees.

I'm just not seeing him bringing in a lot of aging players. One here and there but most of our players came from the draft. Even last years influx of free agents were not aging players. I don't even think our drafts are that bad unless you want to go back several years. In recent years we've drafted some darn good players I think the problem lies more with letting them walk after their initial contract. We can hardly play a single game that the opponent doesn't have one or two of our former picks.

Someone recently suggested that may be caused by the frequent changes in coaches. I think they may have hit on it. Maybe it's time to hold on to the same HC for a longer time period and see how that works out. There are teams around the league that have done that and they are pretty successful. Food for thought.

I see the problem - we don't agree on what an aging player is. On your list, only one is over 30. But, if you think 27/28 is old, you win this disagreement.

I agree that they all have a high salary but I don't think any of those players couldn't get the same kind of deals if they were free agents. It's the way of the NFL, Telesco is just spending what he must spend to get the players he wants.

Nope. Dude is a pussy. Mangina is a close second descriptor. I lost all respect for this coach during the playoffs and how the players reacted. If Joey Bosa had no respect for the coach, then why should I as a fan ? Been at this too damn long to sit back and give the coach a pass. It ain't happening. Coach acted like a flaming pussy. Coach should have read Joey the riot act but nope and that same coaching attitude will continue until major league changes are made. Staley is not changing and wants to be everyone's friend instead of showing tough love.

Cosigned. I wouldn't have let him onto the plane for the trip back from Jville. IMO he should have been fired then and there . . . . and find his own way home.
